With the playdoh, students have been able to create a model of the geosphere of the planet earth and see the different layers of the planet in a 3d model. Students have been able to bring the golf set outside to play mini-golf, and this Monday we will be doing our first classroom transformation to introduce the WILD WEST unit. \r\n Students were so excited about getting their papers near cactuses, the classroom decorations helped create bring the ideas of western expansion alive. This helps create difficult concepts more playful and reachable for students. \r\n The students have enjoyed using the calm down jars, and during indoor recess they have used the pixel art which is a precursor to our graphing unit and students don't realize they are already playing with graphing concepts! Another hit for indoor recess has been the shrinky dink paper and origami for the rainy days. Students have create origami for each other and created kindness origami for younger students. \r\n In January, we will be using the pedometers for a two grade step competition to help students stay active in the cold winter months. I will try to continue to update this as we use the material. Students were so excited for these thick magazines, they would often gather in circle for their mail and held magazines close to them like an award. Students loved reading their magazines and often chose to do so during recess, especially the plays and the crafts. \r\n Towards the end of the year students participated in many writing contests and one student even was inspired to go for a state writing competition after entering so many through scholastics.
