Vermont winters can be very cold, and not all of my students had the resources to get new gloves, hats, or mittens. Children need a break in the day and fresh air to help keep their minds sharp and focused on learning. You helped to make that possible this winter. \r\n\r\nWith your donations, you also ensured that my students had a snack every day. Food insecurity is a growing epidemic, and hungry bellies affect learning minds. My students were overjoyed when I showed them the iPad and how we could now demonstrate our learning through digital games, many of which are not available in print format. After four days of lessons, my students can now \"compete\" in games such as digital tic-tac-toe using words spelled with their learning patterns. Students enjoy playing the games digitally as they allow them to practice skills in a way that is different from our normal lesson modalities. The conversations we have during these games are not only about the patterns we are learning but also about strategy, social skills, and peer interactions. \r\n\tThe addition of the iPad to our intervention lessons not only builds literacy skills it helps build social skills, helps with strategies to attack both words and games, and builds student's confidence","fullyFundedDate":1732546933704,"projectUrl":"project/reading-intervention-tools/8863211/","projectTitle":"Reading Intervention Tools!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Taft","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/4218616"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_35391","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":599,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":46,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":2,"percentWhite":95,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":1,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 12","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":41.4,"schoolId":35391,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Windsor School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Windsor School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/vermont/windsor-southeast-su-52/state-street-school/35391"}
