It may seem like a simple addition, but it has truly changed the feel of our room and the way my students learn each day.\r\n\r\nMy students especially love using the rug during independent learning time. Many of them choose to spread out with their books and notebooks and lie comfortably on the rug while they work. There is something special about watching a group of 4th graders fully engaged in their books, sprawled out with their elbows propped up and completely lost in their reading. During a recent reading workshop, I looked around and saw nearly half of my class choosing the rug as their workspace. They were focused, calm, and deeply involved in their learning. It created such a peaceful and productive moment.\r\n\r\nWhen they first saw the rug, they were genuinely excited. A few students immediately asked, \"Can we use it for reading time?\" They couldn't wait to sit on it, and several told me it made the classroom feel more welcoming and cozy. For 4th graders, having flexible seating options makes them feel trusted and grown-up, and they take that responsibility seriously.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, we are working on strengthening our independent reading stamina and diving deeper into comprehension strategies. The rug gives students a comfortable space to practice annotating their texts, discussing ideas with partners, and building their confidence as readers and writers.\r\n\r\nThank you for giving my students a space that supports both comfort and learning. Your generosity has created a classroom environment where students feel relaxed, engaged, and excited to grow.","fullyFundedDate":1766587691869,"projectUrl":"project/a-gathering-place-for-learning/9926793/","projectTitle":"A Gathering Place for Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Jones","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp135104_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1542921769894","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/leslie-jones"},{"teacherId":10004632,"projectId":9460629,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting our kindergarten classroom! My students are curious, enthusiastic, and full of imagination. Each day, they explore, wonder, and grow—eager to build friendships and understanding through hands-on play and joyful learning. Your generous gift has helped turn everyday moments into meaningful learning experiences, and I'm truly grateful.\r\n\r\nI first introduced the Early Math Activity Center during our GKIDS Readiness observations. The chunky elephant manipulatives were a hit—students eagerly sorted, counted, and built patterns while I observed their math thinking in action. It was a great way to reinforce foundational skills like visual discrimination, fine motor control, and early number sense in a playful, low-pressure setting.\r\n\r\nThe Giant Alphabet Beads have become a staple in our literacy stations. They live on our literacy shelf and are used daily as students string their names, build sight words, and match uppercase and lowercase letters. I've seen a boost in phonemic awareness and finger dexterity, and the pride my students feel when they complete a bead word is priceless. These materials invite creativity and independence while supporting essential literacy skills.\r\n\r\nThank you for giving my students tools that make learning joyful, hands-on, and developmentally appropriate.
