It was the perfect day to get the materials for the grant because it was indoor recess. \r\n\r\nI can't think of a better way for children to practice social skills and key 21st century skills (collaboration, critical thinking, creativity, and leadership) than by playing games. This year I have noticed that more students struggle with creating and maintaining healthy relationships during recess time. To support them, I decided to try a structured recess group for students to spend a given amount of time working on those critical social-emotional regulation skills. \r\n\r\nAfter browsing on Teachers Pay Teachers, I found several resources that would provide structure for such a group. With the purchase of the gift cards from Teachers Pay Teachers, we were able to get added support for our intervention program. The programs that we are/were able to purchase are being used in two of our intervention classrooms. It also always us to differentiate lessons for each student to help meet their own goals. \r\n\r\nWhat is the most exciting part of the products for our students, is that it is at their level and also builds upon their own learning blocks. It helps give students confidence when they are working on skills that can be challenging but not to the point where they lose understanding of what they are learning. The products that we have been able to purchase for reading intervention have been extremely valuable. The readings work on specific phonics skills and also has students working on comprehension.
