Stickybones makes it easy to animate because the magnets help stabilize it and the fly rig helps make jumping sequences easy to see, hold, and execute. We are just finishing up designing our pumpkins, and the students had a blast! We learned about the history of the jack o'lantern. They also learned a lot about spacial reasoning and creating organic shapes to make authentic looking pumpkins. Students measured tea lights and then designed working lids so that the tea lights could fit perfectly in the pumpkin. Students spent a lot of time thinking about positive and negative space and creating faces that showed emotion. Because of your support, this project transformed learning in our technology classroom. With the additional 3D pens, filament, and bubble workstations, students were thrilled to each have their own tools and space to bring their bubble wand designs to life. Having individual supplies meant that every student could fully participate in sketching, prototyping, and testing their creations without waiting for their turn.\r\n\r\nThe most exciting part for students was watching their flat, two-dimensional sketches transform into working three-dimensional bubble wands. They loved seeing their ideas come alive and testing them in our bubble stations, where they could immediately see what worked and what needed improvement. This project made the hard work of redesigning and refining feel like play, while actually teaching persistence, problem-solving, and the scientific process. The excitement and engagement this project sparked will carry forward into future challenges and innovations in our classroom.
