I truly believed I had completed the impact statement back in 2018. I realize that it has been quite sometime, but I wanted to share the impact, district wide, that this first Donor's Choose project of pedometers created! In 2016 I stated a club that I called the Springfield Steppers. We walked two days a week, mornings from 7:30-8 for 14 weeks! Jen, a fellow club organizer and I, couldn't believe the number of students who wanted to participate in our \"stepping club\" that fall We started with 18, grew to 32 4th and 5th graders by the spring.\r\n\r\nWhen we received the pedometers, what a difference that made in our club! Students tracked steps, recorded data each week and added the total amount of steps for the spring session. Watching them open up the pedometers, challenge each other and challenge themselves was heartwarming. The pedometers truly changed how the students were stepping. We celebrated accomplishments at the end. Students added up their step totals for the 14 weeks, we added them altogether and realized as a club we walked all the way to Disney World! \r\n\r\nThe next year, 28 more weeks of walking and a 5k. Our club registered for a local 5k. Out of our 40 steppers, 29 participated in the 5k. The medals made them smile.\r\n\r\nThe next year, another school in our district began a step club. We shared some of the pedometers with them.\r\n\r\nThe Springfield Steppers is still a club and those pedometers are still being used today. \r\n\r\nIn 2023, after running the Springfield Steppers for 6 years I was moved to a different school in our district and began the Mustang Movers. A new set of pedometers was ordered. \r\n\r\nI retire in 2029 and hope that these walking clubs continue when I am no longer in the district.\r\n\r\nHad it not been for that generous donation of pedometers from you- who knows if the walking club would still be successful. The pedometers make the difference!\r\n\r\nThank you again for your generosity! Know that your donations to teacher projects really do make a difference!","fullyFundedDate":1516967333718,"projectUrl":"project/all-steps-count-stepping-toward-a-good/2955675/","projectTitle":"All Steps Count! The scoop chairs have become a huge favorite during reading and math time at the carpet. They were so excited that the scoop chairs were rainbow colored and love choosing which to sit in. The orange scoop chair is popular and I have to rotate students each lesson. \r\n\r\nThe stools are also a big hit at our work tables in the classroom! The green stools are great because the students love the wiggle movement they provide and it definitely helps increase focus. One of my students talks about how much he love to \"wiggle wiggle\" on the stools.\r\n\r\nThe grey chairs are great for groups at our table. The higher height helps the students sit better at the table and the little bounces gives the students a perfect amount of flexibility to stay engaged during groups. \r\n\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the new items in the classroom, they were very excited!
