These resources have brought an exciting, hands on learning experience into our classroom and have given our students the opportunity to explore how plants grow from seeds into healthy, thriving plants. \r\n\r\nOur students were thrilled when they first saw the greenhouse and gardening materials. They were especially excited to examine the seeds, prepare the coco coir, and plant their own seedlings in the nursery pots. We are using the greenhouse to create a classroom garden where students can practice following directions, measuring, observing, and caring for living things. The root viewer garden kit has also helped make the hidden process of root growth visible and engaging. Students are learning to check the moisture of the soil, observe changes in the plants, and record their observations through drawings, photographs, and simple journals. The worm castings have introduced them to the importance of healthy soil and natural ways to help plants grow. \r\n\r\nOur next steps are to continue caring for the seedlings and watching for germination and root development. As the plants grow, students will compare the different types of flowers, herbs, fruits, and vegetables, while practicing patience, responsibility, and teamwork. Eventually, we hope to transplant some of the seedlings and enjoy the herbs or vegetables we grow together. Your generosity has made it possible for our students to experience science in a meaningful, sensory, and accessible way. These resources have made such a meaningful difference in our students' learning experiences. The color printer allows us to create bright, engaging visual supports, individualized learning materials, communication tools, schedules, and activities that are tailored to each student's needs. Having a printer right in our classroom is also incredibly convenient. We are able to quickly print materials whenever a student needs something individualized or when we see an opportunity to support learning in the moment, rather than having to leave the classroom or wait to access a shared printer. Laminating these materials makes them durable and reusable, allowing our students to practice important skills again and again.\r\n\r\nOur students are especially excited to see their learning materials printed in color and made specifically for them. They have been drawn to the bright visuals, personalized activities, and interactive materials, which help increase their attention and motivation. Students who previously struggled to engage with traditional worksheets have especially warmed to the colorful, hands-on resources. For some of our students, having visual schedules, picture-based directions, and individualized activities has made it easier to understand expectations and participate more independently.
