I have students who come in hungry every single day, and I've seen how much harder it is for them to focus when they're thinking about being hungry. Being able to quietly hand a kiddo a snack and watch them settle in, feel better, and get back to learning might seem like a small thing, but it makes a huge difference in our day. Sometimes a snack is exactly what they need to get through the morning.\r\n\r\nIt has also been so helpful for those little moments when a student isn't feeling well. If a kiddo has a stomachache or just seems a little off, being able to offer them something to eat can really perk them up. I love knowing that I have something in my classroom that can help them feel a little better without making a big deal out of it.\r\n\r\nI'm especially thankful that we have a variety of options, because every student is different. Having snacks that work for students with allergies or different dietary needs means that everyone has something they can safely enjoy. More than anything, I think the snacks have helped create a classroom where my students know that they are taken care of. They know that if they're hungry, not feeling well, or just having a rough morning, there is someone here who will help them.","fullyFundedDate":1783382688532,"projectUrl":"project/fueling-hungry-minds-one-snack-at-a-tim/10355288/","projectTitle":"Fueling Hungry Minds, One Snack at a Time","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Storm","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10006561_orig.jpg?crop=1329,1329,x1500,y914&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1745678882879","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10006561"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_92843","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":433,"numTeachers":37,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":38,"percentWhite":29,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":20,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":10,"gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"11.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":34.4,"schoolId":92843,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Spring Hill Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Spring Hill Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/tennessee/knox-county-schools/spring-hill-elementary-school/92843"}
