Having copies available in both English and Spanish has allowed me to better support my students while still bringing everyone together around the same story. As we read, students are strengthening important comprehension skills such as analyzing characters, sequencing events, identifying conflict and resolution, making inferences, learning new vocabulary, and supporting their thinking with evidence from the text.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite parts has been watching students become invested in the story and excited to discuss what they are reading with one another. Our novel study gives students opportunities to read collaboratively, participate in discussions, make predictions, and share their thinking. Having the novel available in both languages has been especially valuable because students can access the story with greater confidence while continuing to develop their reading skills.\r\n\r\nThe rolling cart has made it easy to keep our class sets organized and transport them wherever we need them, while the rug provides a comfortable space for students to gather for reading and discussion. Your generosity gave my students much more than a set of books you gave them a shared reading experience that we will remember together. My students now have access to high-interest series such as Dragon Masters, InvestiGators, Judy Moody, The Chicken Squad, and I Survived. These books are giving students opportunities to practice important reading skills such as sequencing events, analyzing characters and plot, making inferences, using text evidence, building vocabulary, and strengthening reading comprehension all while reading stories they genuinely enjoy.\r\n\r\nOne of the greatest impacts has been seeing students choose to read. During independent reading time, students are excited to visit our classroom library, continue the next book in a series, and recommend their favorites to classmates. Having complete series has been especially powerful because when a student finishes one book and loves it, another book is waiting for them. Even some of my more hesitant readers are discovering books and genres that capture their attention and motivate them to keep reading.\r\n\r\nYour donation did much more than add books to our shelves—you helped us continue building a community of readers. These books will be read, shared, discussed, and loved by my students this year and by many more students in the years to come. My students are now using the flexible seating options every day during reading groups, math centers, and independent work time. One of my favorite moments happened during a writing activity: a student who usually struggles to stay focused settled into a wobble seat and was able to stay engaged long enough to finish an entire story—proudly reading it aloud to his classmates. The new treasure chest has also become a powerful tool for positive reinforcement. Students are working hard to earn their \"treasure tickets,\" and the excitement of choosing a reward has made appropriate behavior and academic effort feel fun and meaningful.\r\nWhen my students first walked in and saw the new seats and treasure chest, their reactions were priceless—wide eyes, huge smiles, and lots of happy chatter. Many of them asked, \"Is this really for us?\" Some immediately ran their hands along the cushions or tested out the stools, giggling as they discovered their favorite spot. It was clear that they felt valued and seen, and that sense of ownership has only grown in the weeks since.\r\nAs we continue our current units, these resources are becoming an important part of our daily routines. Students will soon begin a collaborative storytelling project, and the flexible seating will allow them to choose spaces that help them focus and communicate comfortably. The treasure chest will serve as ongoing encouragement as they work through multi-step tasks and social–emotional goals.
