The impact of your contribution has been truly remarkable. The students were so excited when they first saw the new chairs, bookshelf, books, and fidget spinners. Their faces lit up with joy and curiosity as they discovered the new space designed just for them to relax and regroup. The soft chairs and calming atmosphere have already proven to be a great asset, giving students a place to take a break and return to their work feeling more focused and ready to engage.\r\n\r\nSince setting up the calm-down corner, my students have been using the new resources in a variety of ways. Some students gravitate toward the fidget spinners and books to help them calm their minds, while others love curling up with a good story from the new bookshelf. The space has become a sanctuary for students who need a moment to de-escalate before rejoining the class activities. One particular moment stands out—when a student, who often struggles with self-regulation, picked up a book from the shelf and sat in the new chair, immediately feeling more at ease and able to participate in our group lesson afterward. It was a beautiful reminder of how small changes can make a huge difference in a child's day.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we will continue to use the calm-down corner to support emotional regulation and self-awareness. As students progress through their social-emotional learning journey, this space will remain a vital tool for helping them manage their feelings and improve their overall classroom experience. Thanks to your support, my students now have a peaceful place to recharge, and it's already having a lasting positive impact on their ability to thrive in the classroom.\r\n\r\nThank you again for making this all possible. Your generosity is truly making a difference.","fullyFundedDate":1729521990701,"projectUrl":"project/classroom-supplies/8872882/","projectTitle":"Classroom Supplies","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. King","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9792921"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_19564","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":445,"numTeachers":31,"percentFrplEligible":37,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":92,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":3,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"14.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":84.6,"schoolId":19564,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Southwood Junior Senior High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Southwood Junior Senior High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/indiana/msd-of-wabash-county/southwood-junior-senior-high-school/19564"}
