These materials have made a noticeable difference in how students engage with their learning—many can stay focused longer, regulate their energy better, and participate more confidently in class activities.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the new materials, their excitement was immediate and genuine. They were eager to try the different seating options and explore the new supplies. Some students who typically struggle with sitting still were especially enthusiastic about the wobble stools and flexible seating choices. Others were excited about the sensory tools, which they quickly began using to help them stay calm and focused. There was a real sense of ownership and pride in the classroom, as if the space had been redesigned specifically for them—which, in many ways, it has.\r\n\r\nThese resources are now fully integrated into our daily routines. During reading and writing centers, students choose seating that helps them concentrate best. The classroom materials are being used for hands-on projects where students are creating posters, writing responses, and building visual representations of what they are learning. The sensory and focus tools have also become an important support during independent work time, helping students self-regulate so they can stay engaged with academic tasks. One of the most meaningful changes has been seeing students take responsibility for their learning environment and independently choose tools that help them succeed.\r\n\r\nNext, we will continue building on this momentum as we move into new units that require collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking. Students will be using these materials for group projects, presentations, and interactive learning activities that allow them to demonstrate their understanding in multiple ways. Your support has not only provided physical resources for our classroom—it has created opportunities for students to feel more comfortable, more focused, and more confident as learners every day.","fullyFundedDate":1690979449967,"projectUrl":"project/home-away-from-home-ms-amayas-classro/7442283/","projectTitle":"Home Away from Home: Ms. Amaya's Classroom!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Ericka Amaya","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8362663_orig.jpg?crop=996,996,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1686873824228","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-erickaamaya"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_75676","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":638,"numTeachers":15,"percentFrplEligible":49,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":0,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":99,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":0,"gradesServed":"7 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"42.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":33.3,"schoolId":75676,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Southwest Junior High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Southwest Junior High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/arizona/gadsden-elementary-school-district-32/southwest-junior-high-school/75676"}
