They are able to choose not to sit at a traditional desk for hours a day. They are able to choose which seating arrangement is most comfortable for them while working.The impact that your donation has had on our school year already, has not gone unnoticed. \r\n\r\nSince implementing these flexible seating options I have observed:\r\n\r\nGreater student engagement\r\nIncrease in the ease of classroom management\r\nDecreased behaviors\r\nIncrease in student happiness\r\nGreater sense of student autonomy\r\nCloser knit classroom community\r\n\r\nThis is just to name a few. My class of 3rd Graders have been motivated, engaged and performing at their best this school year. I believe, without a doubt, that much of that increased engagement and motivation can be attributed to the use of flexible seating in our classroom. We have students able to use the stadium seats at a floor - level table, while others use the cushions to increase the comfort of their traditional desks. The mobile cushions also allow students to take them to the rug or use on the floor when working on tasks around the room.The set of stadium seats in addition to the 15 chair cushions allows ALL of my students access to a modified seating option every single day.\r\n\r\nI am incredibly grateful for your generosity, thoughtfulness, kindness and willingness to help out our little classroom here in Torrington, Connecticut. Your donation has made a difference in the academic journey of all of these students and future students for years to come.","fullyFundedDate":1757339472586,"projectUrl":"project/flexible-bodies-flexible-minds/9381006/","projectTitle":"Flexible Bodies, Flexible Minds.","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Milano","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3091475"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_43867","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":289,"numTeachers":26,"percentFrplEligible":88,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":6,"percentWhite":52,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":36,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"4 - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"11.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":73.9,"schoolId":43867,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Southwest Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Southwest Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/connecticut/torrington-city-school-district/southwest-elementary-school/43867"}
