The table and chairs have transformed our playhouse into a warm, realistic space where students can engage in meaningful pretend play. One special moment was watching a group of students create their own Tea Party. They were using kind words as they worked together. It was such a beautiful example of social-emotional learning and real-life connections happening naturally through play. They have already used the supplies for a Pet shop and a flower shop. \r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, their excitement was immediate. There were big smiles, lots of \"I love this\" moments, and they couldn't wait to get started. Many of them began organizing the space on their own and inviting friends to join. The new shelf has also helped students build independence as they learn to take care of materials and keep their space organized.\r\nOur next steps are to continue expanding our dramatic play area with themes such as a home, a grocery store, and a restaurant. Students will begin adding simple writing into their play, such as creating menus or shopping lists, to connect play with early literacy skills. These new resources are helping create a space where imagination, collaboration, and learning truly come to life every day.","fullyFundedDate":1769178038851,"projectUrl":"project/imaginative-play-today/9767609/","projectTitle":"Imaginative Play Today","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Capel","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6356937_orig.png?crop=398,398,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1692462566829","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6356937"},{"teacherId":10066099,"projectId":9859009,"letterContent":"When the new library organization supplies arrived, my students were immediately excited, especially about the bright colors! We worked together to organize our classroom library, and the different colors made it easy for students to see where books belong and how to find the kinds of stories they love.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite moments was watching the students begin to take ownership of the library. The color organization system has helped them access books more independently, and they are starting to return books to the correct places on their own. One student in particular has absolutely loved helping organize the library and takes her role very seriously. She often volunteers to help check that the bins are in the right place!\r\n\r\nNext, we'll continue using our organized library during independent reading and literacy centers. My goal is for students to feel confident choosing books, exploring new topics, and taking care of our shared classroom space. These supplies are helping create a library that is welcoming, accessible, and truly student-owned.","fullyFundedDate":1769178041918,"projectUrl":"project/cozy-library-corner/9859009/","projectTitle":"Cozy Library Corner!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Austad","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10066099"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_66914","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":742,"numTeachers":36,"percentFrplEligible":52,"percentAsian":12,"percentBlack":3,"percentWhite":31,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":39,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"20.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":90.0,"schoolId":66914,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Southport Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Southport Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/washington-unified-school-dist-yolo/southport-elementary-school/66914"}
