Many of our UFLI lessons are working on not only CVC words, but words with blends and digraphs. Each one of the activities and puzzles donated for Hooked on Making Words, offers the students opportunities to make not only CVC words, but words with blends as well. One of my reading groups absolutely loves making CVC words with the crayon activity. I made Fridays dedicated to working with each reading group for 10 minutes and during that time we use all of the donated activities (Splash, CVC crayon words, roll a word and I utilize the puzzles). We all look forward to Friday reading group time thanks to your generous donation.","fullyFundedDate":1739455248654,"projectUrl":"project/hooked-on-making-words/9064378/","projectTitle":"Hooked on Making Words!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Price","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9081893_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1705101389632","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9081893"},{"teacherId":9081893,"projectId":9065201,"letterContent":"I can not thank you enough for donating to Math Morning Tubs. This is another project that offered such a variety of math activities for the students to do. So far I have used many of the activities as a supplemental activity after the students complete their workplace game for our math program. The students would work on sequencing numbers to 30, arranging tangrams to cover an object, and they put the number train puzzle together numerous times. I loved having the ten frame dice for all of the teen number activities. The dice were a great deal easier to use for all of our math activities than using decks of cards. I now have a plethora of math activities to use that will enhance the students mastery of kindergarten math concepts.","fullyFundedDate":1739455257708,"projectUrl":"project/math-morning-tubs/9065201/","projectTitle":"Math Morning Tubs","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Price","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9081893_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1705101389632","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9081893"},{"teacherId":9081893,"projectId":9065271,"letterContent":"The students and I were so thrilled with all of the puzzles! Our classroom truly did become Puzzle Mania at times. We had puzzle free choice on Friday. The students were placed in groups of 3-4 and they were given ten minutes to put their puzzle together. After the time frame they broke up the puzzle they were working on and then rotated to another puzzle with their group. Another time that we did puzzles is when I was testing individual students for report cards. The students would quietly put the puzzles together in groups while I called students individually to assess. I have also shared this wonderful donation with my fellow kindergarten team. All kindergarteners love the puzzles! They offer such a great opportunity to work together as a team.","fullyFundedDate":1739455258351,"projectUrl":"project/puzzle-mania/9065271/","projectTitle":"Puzzle Mania","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Price","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9081893_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1705101389632","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9081893"},{"teacherId":9081893,"projectId":9064242,"letterContent":"Thank you for providing magnetic Elkonin boxes for Say It, Tap It , Spell It. We use these magnetic boards on a daily basis for UFLI (phonics instruction) as well as Heggerty. During UFLI the students will tap the blue circles on the boards and write the word on the bottom. Not only are they deciding how many sounds are in each word, but they are also writing words with the corresponding sounds that they have been taught in phonics instruction. I love these boards because the writing lines are designed for kindergarten writing. Often times I also use these Elkonin magnetic boards to just push up the blue magnetic circles for sounds in each word. During these lessons I only focuss on the sounds words make. These magnetic paddles have enhanced my instruction each and every day! Currently, I have one student who is working on learning both the letters of the alphabet names and the sounds correlated with each letter. Having these activities, provides this particular student with something educational to do while I am working with other students. While the majority of the students are beyond letter identification at this point in the school year, I do plan on using these puzzles and activities next year on a daily basis. The entire kindergarten classroom will use the materials starting at the beginning of the school year because the focuss is on not only identifying the letters of the alphabet, but also their sounds.
