While the materials we ultimately received looked a little different from what I originally envisioned for this project, your generosity still made a meaningful impact on my students and our classroom.\r\n\r\nI was fortunate to receive a refrigerator from another teacher when she transferred schools, which allowed me to accomplish one of the main goals of this project. I used the plastic storage bins to organize extra breakfast items for students, while the refrigerator gave me a place to keep items that needed to stay cold. Throughout the year, students knew that if they were hungry, there was often something available for them in our classroom. Having access to food helped students meet an immediate need so they could better focus on learning.\r\n\r\nThe additional materials we received also became valuable classroom resources. The basketball hoop quickly became a student favorite during review games. It added a fun, interactive element to reviewing content and gave students another reason to participate and engage in our lessons.\r\n\r\nI also used the full-sheet sticker paper to create personalized covers for students' interactive notebooks. These notebooks are an important part of our classroom, and the covers helped students take ownership of a resource they used throughout the school year to organize their learning.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping me create a classroom that supports my students in so many different ways. From making sure they have something to eat when they are hungry to creating engaging learning experiences and materials they can be proud of. Your support truly made a difference in our classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1755736755428,"projectUrl":"project/full-stomachs-focused-minds/9626731/","projectTitle":"Full Stomachs, Focused Minds","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Reid","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3049189_orig.jpg?crop=730,730,x22,y7&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1565708515499","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3049189"},{"teacherId":3049189,"projectId":9626404,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for helping us expand our classroom library! Because of your generosity, my students now have even more books in English and Spanish to choose from, as well as a more organized and inviting space to find them.\r\n\r\nThe new books have given my students access to high-interest stories that they can read and enjoy at their language level. Having familiar and engaging titles available in Spanish has been especially meaningful for my newcomers and developing English learners. Students can choose books that interest them without language becoming a barrier to reading.\r\n\r\nThe new bookshelf and book bins have also made a difference. Our growing collection is now easier for students to see, browse, and access independently. Instead of books simply being stored in our classroom, we have a space that truly feels like a classroom library.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, these materials continue to send an important message to my students: their home language belongs in our classroom, and they are readers in both English and Spanish.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping me continue to build a classroom where my multilingual learners have access to books they can understand, connect with, and enjoy. Instead of their English proficiency determining which books they can access, students can choose stories and topics that genuinely interest them. They have been able to read independently, share books with classmates, and talk about what they are reading.\r\n\r\nOne of the greatest impacts of this project has been seeing students who do not always view themselves as readers pick up a book because the language is accessible and the story catches their attention. The books have also helped reinforce something that is very important in our classroom: continuing to develop literacy in Spanish is valuable and can support students as they continue learning English.\r\n\r\nThese books will continue to be part of our classroom library and will be used by many more students in the years ahead. They are now able to move while learning, which helps them stay focused and engaged during lessons. I've already noticed an increase in attention and participation.\r\n\r\nThe headphones and earplugs have created a calmer, more supportive learning environment. Some of my students are easily overwhelmed by noise, and these tools give them the ability to block distractions and concentrate on their work. It has empowered them to take control of their learning space.\r\n\r\nThe laminating sheets and Sharpies have allowed me to create durable, reusable materials that support hands-on learning. My students love using colorful visuals and interactive resources, and now I can make tools that last and can be used again and again.\r\n\r\nYour kindness has not only provided supplies, it has created opportunities for success, confidence, and independence in my classroom. One of the first things students noticed was how organized their colored folders helped them feel. They love having a dedicated place to keep their work, and it has made transitions so much smoother. The chair bands have also become a favorite; they provide a much-needed fidget option that helps students stay focused during lessons. During a recent small-group activity, I watched several students quietly use the bands to \"fidget\" while still engaging fully with the task. \r\n\r\nStudents were especially appreciative of the tissues and band-aids. A few even commented that the band-aids were \"really cool\" and that it felt nice to know those things were available when they needed them. The wipes have quickly become part of our classroom routine as well; students love helping keep our space clean, especially after celebrating their hard work and respectful behavior with small class celebrations.\r\n\r\nNext, we'll be continuing our ongoing projects with an even stronger sense of organization and independence. The colored folders will support students as they begin a new unit where they'll manage more of their own written work and reflections. The focus provided by the chair bands will help them dive deeper into longer activities, and our clean, well-stocked classroom will allow us to maintain the positive learning environment they've helped create. I'm excited to see how these tools continue to support their growth in responsibility, collaboration, and confidence.
