The unit for 12 Angry Men was a short one right at the end of the year, but it immediately caught and held student interest. Students were asked to help read the script out loud, and they had fun choosing their characters and committing to the story.\r\nThis unit asked students to really consider bias and justice and how the American justice system works. There were great conversations sparked about tone and what characters actually meant with the points they were making. I also enjoyed seeing the sparks of connection as they realized why different conversations about different pieces of evidence were important to the story. This also solidified the importance of the jury in trials and got the students thinking about the impact that they can have in the justice system.","fullyFundedDate":1770662536935,"projectUrl":"project/the-crossroads-of-bias-and-justice/10057545/","projectTitle":"The Crossroads of Bias and Justice","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Thacker","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9782144_orig.png?crop=680,680,x182,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1727468206176","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/thacker"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_53697","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":266,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":11,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":95,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":2,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":0,"gradesServed":"7 - 9","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":78.0,"schoolId":53697,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Snowcrest Junior High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Snowcrest Junior High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/utah/weber-school-district/snowcrest-junior-high-school/53697"}
