There are so many things I need for the classroom that I just cannot afford to do all on my own, so your generosity really means so much to me. \r\nSome of the things we have done with the books so far was a little \"movie\" type of preview so the students could learn more about our new books to see if they wanted to read them. This was a huge success and sparked a lot of interest in some of the books! We even had a line for a few of them, something that was really special to see. \r\nIn our classroom we read each day for warm-up. This is a great way to start each class and gives students some time to transition physically to a new class, but mentally as well. So often students never get the chance to read for fun, with no questions or quiz to follow. This is a great chance to just grow a genuine love for reading. \r\nMany of the students have been really drawn to the graphic novels so far! We have seen a lot of popularity with them. The materials you provided helped transform our library into a hands-on cultural learning space. Students explored Japanese culture through creative stations—sampling traditional Japanese snacks, learning the art of origami, and studying visual storytelling techniques used in manga. These experiences gave students important background knowledge and inspiration before meeting a real author, helping them better understand the cultural context behind the art form.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the materials, their excitement was immediate. Many were eager to try origami for the first time or compare manga art styles to comics they already loved. For some students, this project sparked a new interest in drawing, storytelling, and global cultures. Others found confidence in expressing themselves visually, even if traditional reading or writing can sometimes feel challenging.\r\n\r\nNext, students are applying what they learned by creating their own manga-inspired drawings and short visual narratives. They are practicing how artists use panels, expressions, and motion to tell a story. While many students are familiar with technology at home, using a 3D printer in school has helped them understand how digital tools can be used with purpose. Students learned how ideas move from design software to real-world objects, while also practicing problem-solving, iteration, and responsible use of technology. The printer became a bridge between technical skills and meaningful impact.\r\n\r\nWhat excites students most is knowing that their creations are not just for themselves. Through 3D Print It Forward, students intentionally design small objects meant to be shared—kindness tokens, themed trinkets, inspirational items, and fun surprises. These prints are placed around the school and even shared within the surrounding neighborhood, turning learning into an act of giving. Students carefully consider the audience, the message, and how their design might make someone smile. This shift—from \"What can I make?\" to \"Who can this help?\"—has been incredibly powerful.\r\n\r\nSome students who are usually quiet or hesitant to take academic risks have especially thrived with this project. Seeing their designs appreciated by others has boosted their confidence and encouraged collaboration. The act of giving away something they created has helped students develop empathy and kindness in authentic ways.
