Since my school has a focus on the IB PYP program, a huge focus in my classroom and without the school is preparing students for the world beyond our town. With the books that you have provided, I have been able to show my students an even bigger glimpse of the world beyond us. The students in my classroom are a very diverse group that come from many cultures and even varying countries around the word. So, being able to show them that even though the people around them are not the same as themselves, there are people around the world that they can relate to.\r\nBooks such as the ones you have provided allow me to create the most welcoming environment possible for my students. Encouraging students to be kind to all of their classmates, no matter how anyone looks, or what they experience can be difficult, especially as students get older. Being able to show my students exactly why we should be caring to each other has helped to display how important and valuable our relationships with one another are. My classroom, this year and for many years to come will benefit from the impact these books provide.","fullyFundedDate":1751808508913,"projectUrl":"project/windows-and-mirrors-through-reading/9428679/","projectTitle":"Windows and Mirrors Through Reading","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Thompson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10062083_orig.jpg?crop=1000,1000,x335,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1751815265008","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10062083"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_1890","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":569,"numTeachers":45,"percentFrplEligible":69,"percentAsian":3,"percentBlack":27,"percentWhite":22,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":40,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"12.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":73.0,"schoolId":1890,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Smith Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Smith Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/north-carolina/wake-county-public-school-system/smith-elementary-school/1890"}
