Thanks to your generosity, every student in the classroom now has access to a calculator, and pencils have steadily flowed from student hands onto paper! With the new headphones, student focus during digital work has reached an all time high, and the notebook paper has been efficiently used for detailed notes and big problems! The use of wipes and Lysol spray has resulted in a significantly cleaner classroom, with overall absences from sickness or reported illnesses being reduced by around seventy five percent!\r\n\r\nThe arrival of the resources brought a wave of satisfied grins on the students' faces, and after nefarious nods on the sight of new cleaning materials, the students crowded around the headphones and calculators, eager to be the first to use them. State testing has arrived, and the classes are furiously and simultaneously studying their testing skills, and refreshing their knowledge of the curriculum in anticipation of the most exhausting weeks of the year. Your generosity has made a meaningful difference in the daily learning experiences of our young students.\r\nSince receiving the new materials, our classroom has been full of creativity, problem-solving, and excitement. The linking blocks and bridge-building blocks have quickly become favorites in our STEAM center. The children have been experimenting with building bridges and testing how strong they are by seeing how many toy cars or animals they can hold. One memorable moment happened when a small group of students worked together to build a long bridge across our block rug. They carefully connected pieces, adjusted their design when it wobbled, and proudly cheered when it finally stood strong enough for their toy trucks to drive across.\r\nThe marble runs have also inspired a lot of curiosity. Students love designing different pathways and watching how the marbles move. They are learning about cause and effect, gravity, and problem-solving as they change pieces to make the marbles go faster or slower.\r\nOur dramatic play center was transformed with the addition of the pretend fruits and vegetables. The children immediately turned it into a bustling farmer's market. They take turns being shopkeepers and customers, counting produce, organizing baskets, and practicing social skills as they \"sell\" and \"buy\" healthy foods.\r\nWhen the students first saw all the new materials, their eyes lit up with excitement. There were lots of \"Wow!\" and \"Can we try it?\" comments as they explored each item. They were eager to touch, build, and imagine with everything right away.\r\nLooking ahead, we plan to expand on these experiences by incorporating more STEAM challenges into our centers. Students will continue experimenting with building stronger structures, creating more complex marble run designs, and using the block center to build entire towns and markets. We are also beginning a unit about communities and how people work together, so the farmer's market dramatic play area will be an important part of that learning.\r\nYour support has helped create opportunities for hands-on exploration, teamwork, and creativity in our classroom. Thank you for investing in our young learners and helping us inspire their curiosity every day.","fullyFundedDate":1768068731387,"projectUrl":"project/engineering-play-build-explore-learn/9990705/","projectTitle":"Engineering Play: Build, Explore, Learn","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Tiffany","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9352153_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1699047991184","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9352153"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_68679","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":251,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":90,"percentAsian":6,"percentBlack":2,"percentWhite":45,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":36,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":65.2,"schoolId":68679,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Sierra Nevada Academy Charter School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Sierra Nevada Academy Charter School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/nevada/washoe-county-school-district/sierra-nevada-academy-cs/68679"}
