Our garden is in full bloom, thanks to you!! \r\nWe have a container and some raised beds full of the plants we started from seeds, and the strawberries you helped us purchase. The students are writing letters to our Garden Fairy, and reading responses when the little red flag is up on our box. Everyone got to help in some way with hoeing to prepare the soil, spreading new organic soil, planting, and watering. We have had great luck with some sweet peas and the strawberries. Some of our students love to run up the hill, around the beds, and down again, and then just sit and gaze on the garden. It's really a great sensory motor break, outdoors, and in fresh air, just outside our classroom door. \r\n\r\nJust last week, the strawberries flowered. We are excited with more sun to see berries coming soon. Many of our students use an Augmentative Assitive Communication device (AAC) because they are otherwise nonverbal. They have been inspired to comment on the garden, make requests, and respond to choices. We can't thank you enough for all the smiles it brings in this rich learning opportunity.","fullyFundedDate":1777385163427,"projectUrl":"project/gardens-to-learn-and-grow-by/10180519/","projectTitle":"Gardens to Learn and Grow By","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Roberts","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7332079"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_36471","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":445,"numTeachers":28,"percentFrplEligible":23,"percentAsian":3,"percentBlack":5,"percentWhite":68,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":12,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":8,"gradesServed":"1 - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"15.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":83.8,"schoolId":36471,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Sherwood Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Sherwood Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/washington/edmonds-school-district/sherwood-elementary-school/36471"}
