Every day, we are using these new resources in meaningful ways that support both learning and classroom community.\r\n\r\nOne of our favorite moments each day is during read-aloud time. Students love cozying up on the bean bags, settling in, and fully immersing themselves in the story. It has turned what was once a simple routine into a calm, comforting experience that students look forward to. The bean bags have also become a special incentive—students can earn the opportunity to use them by staying on task and following expectations, which has been a great motivator.\r\n\r\nOur classroom tiger stuffed animal has also become a beloved part of our daily routine. During circle time, we pass it around as we share ideas, which helps students feel more comfortable speaking and builds a sense of community and respect among classmates. Even small upgrades, like our new pencil sharpener, have made a big difference—students are excited to use it, and it keeps our classroom running smoothly without interruptions.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw these materials, their excitement was immediate. They couldn't wait to try everything, and they took great pride in helping care for and use the items responsibly. It truly made them feel like our classroom is a special place designed just for them.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, these resources will continue to support our learning and classroom culture. We'll keep using the bean bags during independent reading and as part of our incentive system, and the tiger will remain a key part of building student voice during discussions. These tools are helping us grow not just academically, but also as a supportive and connected classroom community.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping create a space where students feel comfortable, motivated, and excited to learn each day.","fullyFundedDate":1749926301570,"projectUrl":"project/building-a-safe-bright-space-for-my-4th/9406606/","projectTitle":"Building A Safe, Bright Space for My 4th Graders","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Peters","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10053650"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_29684","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":234,"numTeachers":19,"percentFrplEligible":29,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":89,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":5,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 4","studentTeacherRatio":"12.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":83.6,"schoolId":29684,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Sherrard Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Sherrard Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/illinois/sherrard-community-school-district-200/sherrard-elementary-school/29684"}
