I would love to share with you some of the wonderful impacts your donations made to our classroom this past school year. \r\n\r\nOne of the biggest things my students advocated for is a calm corner to help regulate and focus throughout the school day. They provided the list of materials, including the rug, bean bag and place for easy to grab books to relax with. The class then created their own norms for using the space and this space was used continuously by multiple students throughout every school day for the rest of the year. One of my 5th graders remarked that it was \"the nicest calm corner she had ever seen\". \r\n\r\nOur book shelf not only provided easy to grab books for our group of voracious readers but we also turned it into a themed selection each month based on relevant topics in our curriculum that I knew students were passionate about. For example, we are a class of animal and sports lovers so we had a month of books themed around animal protections and a month of important people from all demographics in sports.\r\n\r\nOne of the biggest impacts of your donations was the power students saw their words and advocacy have on their immediate community and environment. They got to see an idea and a passion be imagined, planned and ultimately implemented and enjoyed. For all of this, I and my students thank you.","fullyFundedDate":1768508019556,"projectUrl":"project/calm-classroom-for-steam-projects-and-le/9910845/","projectTitle":"Calm Classroom for STEAM Projects and Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Bailey","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9802569"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_36374","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":433,"numTeachers":22,"percentFrplEligible":74,"percentAsian":3,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":72,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":11,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":11,"gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"19.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":82.3,"schoolId":36374,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Sherman Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Sherman Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/washington/tacoma-public-schools/sherman-elementary-school/36374"}
