It encourages and excites them to develop a love for STEM. When I posted this project, it was my hope that I would have these materials at the ready for the day students entered my classroom. Knowing that I would have a few students who didn't have materials was at the front of my brain. Sure enough, I had at least 4 friends who needed pencil boxes, pencils, crayons and glue for their boxes. \r\n\r\nIt was such a relief to know that my students would have the materials that they needed to start off a successful year. My students who needed pencil boxes in particular were very excited to pick a fun color for themselves. \r\n\r\nIt is so nice to be able to supply my students with a missing crayon color without hassle when theirs comes up missing. It's such an easy solution to grab them one on the go. One of my main goals as a teacher is to help students learn to love to read. The book series that you helped to provide have inspired many of my students this year. Several of my students read the entire Bad Guys series in a record amount of time. Similarly, several of my students read the A to Z Mysteries in order. They were encouraging each other to read so they could all move forward in the series. It was the sweetest thing to see! \r\n\r\nWithout your help, I wouldn't have been able to supply the entire collection for them to finish. I would have had to piece it together over time and completed it long after this group of students had left me. Having quality supplies to aide in my instruction, is very helpful. The demonstration board will allow me to model for my students what I am expecting them to do as well as showing them the quality I want to see from them, too. It is small enough to use with my small groups and not take up the whole table. The student white boards provide the lines I need for their handwriting to be as accurate as possible. The Owl Diaries books is a continuation of the set that I already have. There were 6 more books that I didn't have, so we were able to complete the collection. The National Parks Books had one particular student literally jumping for joy. These books are mysteries that are set in the National Parks. We have been using the pop it frames to tap out the sounds in words. The push down one pop for each sound they hear in the word. Then they write it on the boards that we also received through your donation. \r\nThe LCD boards are fantastic for small group. It allows students to write the word that we are working on and easily erase but we don't go through so many dry erase markers. Students are excited to use these every time that I get them out.\r\nThe last thing we received was phonics blending boards. These boards have magnetic tiles and a selection of boards for us to use with them. This tool has been great for building words while making sound choices easy by only offering the sounds they need or that we are working on.
