I introduced the project with a demonstration on the day before the student would be doing it themselves. I had some kiddos who definitely displayed tough love towards art. They were so into it, just watching the demo!!!\r\nThe next day, one of the aides of a student with behavior issues told me that he was given the option to miss art because he was having a tough morning; he responded \"no way, art is going to be fun today!\". I knew this project would be a hit when I heard that! I also heard a lot of current slang being used regarding this project, such as \"this is lit\" and \"ooooh, this print is fire\". I loved their enthusiasm!!\r\nStudents worked together in teams. After my initial demo, the students did everything themselves. It was great for building independence and responsibility! I loved that even when it wasn't their turn to pull a print, they were fully invested in their classmate's art.\r\nSuminagashi is a Japanese art. After we pulled our prints, Students chose their favorite one and glued it to a white background. We then learned about another Japanese art called Notan, which is the use of light and dark contrast. These Notan designs were glued on top of our Suminagashi print~ combining two Japanese art forms! They turned out really beautiful.
