Your contributions have made a meaningful difference in our students' daily experiences, and I am so grateful.\r\nThe snacks you've provided help ensure that every student is ready to learn. For many of our kids, having something to eat during the day improves their focus, energy, and overall mood. It creates a more comfortable and supportive learning environment where everyone can do their best.\r\nThe crayons, Legos, and magnetic tiles have sparked so much creativity and joy. Students use these materials not only for fun, but also to build important skills like problem-solving, collaboration, and imagination. It's incredible to watch them work together, create, and take pride in what they build and design.\r\nFlexible seating has also had a huge impact in our classroom. Giving students the ability to choose where and how they sit helps them stay engaged and focused. We use the program of Orton Gillingham to help our students with decoding different types of words (i.e. CVC, CVCe, CVCC/CCVC, r-controlled, blends, digraphs, etc.) as well as red words that are not easily decodable (i.e. was, the, and, etc.). One of the pieces of Orton Gillingham is using a kinesthetic way to practice writing out the words for repetitive practice to aid with memory and recall. The LCD boards have proven to be a big fan favorite of the students to practice writing the words especially for my students with autism as the LCD boards are not over stimulating and have pretty colors as my students have said. We have also been using them for work space when calculating out our math problems especially when doing regrouping for addition and subtraction, and creating picture arrays/ten frames to help count up, subtract down, or group together for multiplication or division. I as their instructor have also been using the boards when taking them into my students' general education rooms to use as a surface to help guide my students through their math lessons in the classroom.\r\nMy students were thrilled to see the new wiggle stools this morning as I previously only had one other stool that they would take turns using because they all wanted the one stool everyday. This really helped my students that need a little bit more movement for the school day to retain focus in my classroom. Last week we had an assembly for the Mayor doing their attendance raffel. I have a few students who cannot handle loud noises, one of those students having hearing aides, and the noise cancelling headphones had come just in time! I had three very happy students using them throughout the whole assembly and then asked to use them during their lunch time too or to keep them for the year. Calming strips are being offered to be placed on my students table tops or their chromebooks for a texture to use as needed and a few of the comments from my students was that having something to fiddle with while listening to their teacher helps keep focus. Multiplication pop-its have been a big hit, I think I might even have to buy more in the future, the students are much more happier with something fun to manipulate and pop the buttons than using their fingers on a print out paper as they lose their spot easy when finding their solution. My kids that need a bit more of a snack throughout the day because of medical or other reason are now having the ability to request to come see me as needed or during their time with me to come have a snack, a break, and then a smooth transitional return to learning without the worry of hunger interrupting.\r\nI am gaining new students often and each one has different individualized needs that I want to make sure are always being met and understood. We are their advocates especially myself and I want them to feel safe and welcomed. We will continue to use the boards with our learning, I am hoping to use them also in the future as a practice board that they can do independent work on to do a show the teacher what answer you got to gauge their understanding as an exit ticket or informal quiz. I will also be looking into using them for my selective mutism students as a form of communication going forward as well if they are able to articulate through words or drawn pictures. I will be seeing which of my students will benefit from having noise cancelling headphones in their classrooms, lunch, specials, or other spaces of the school to make sure they have access whenever they need. Wiggle stools will stay wiggling during our lessons and time together, and snacks will be an option as my kids need.","fullyFundedDate":1768662100415,"projectUrl":"project/wiggles-and-snacks-for-sped/10024159/","projectTitle":"Wiggles and Snacks for SPED","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Bre","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10404894"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_44874","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":527,"numTeachers":35,"percentFrplEligible":39,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":52,"percentIndigenous":3,"percentLatinx":36,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"15.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":56.1,"schoolId":44874,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Seeliger Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Seeliger Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/nevada/carson-city-school-district/seeliger-elementary-school/44874"}
