They were thrilled to have new supplies that they have an opportunity to use. I believe they were most excited about the fidgets. I ordered lots of different types so they'd have options to choose from. It was surprising to me that the long snake like fidgets were the most popular. I've recently taken a class that a teacher had listed her top picks when getting sensory items for her students and I made my wish list based on her recommendations. \r\n I think my students were overwhelmed (in a good way) by the number of choices they had. I was happy that everything came so quickly too. Besides the fidgets, they have an opportunity to get a new folder, notebook, or earbuds if they need to have those items replenished. My students were able to use the new Cricut to create Christmas gifts for their friends and families. Each student picked a personalized design to decorate a water bottle to give as a gift. We have also been able to cut and apply school spirit stickers and name tags to lockers and other items.\r\nMy students were so excited to open up the new materials that would enable us to do so many fun projects. They instantly started brainstorming new ideas for how to utilize the Cricut and vinyl. Several students asked to start creating labels for everything in the classroom! \r\nThe next item on the agenda for our Cricut is to make a class book and use the machine to illustrate it. Many students in our classroom struggle with fine motor skills, so illustrating by cutting out pictures on the Cricut will give them a great finished product. I requested and received three different novel sets with enough books for twenty-five students to use. \r\n In the fifth grade, we learn about the Holocaust and I use Number the Stars to help teach this historical event with my students. This book is a little more gentle than some of the other novels about the Holocaust for 5th graders to grasp. It's also a Newberry Award Winning book so kids are also introduced to quality literature. \r\n Another one of the novel sets is Maniac Magee. It's is another Newberry Award Winning book. If you've not read this book, I highly recommend this book. There are lots of different themes that people might encounter in life that are introduced in this novel. \r\n The last novel set that I was able to get is Tuck Everlasting. I already had the desk buddy pocket organizers, but they had been used for a couple of years and were well-worn. The day the supplies came in the students were able to get new organizers to store their materials at their seats. \r\n I now have enough Expo markers to resupply students when/if they don't have extra dry-erase markers in their lockers. We use the dry erase boards in my classroom daily and lots of days multiple times a day for math, language, and reviewing for science or ss. \r\n We don't use the balance or graduated cylinders as frequently, but it is something that I've wanted but didn't have the means to purchase them without your help. \r\n My students were so excited when the boxes came! They said that it was like Christmas.
