My class was so excited the afternoon that I told them that someone out there in the world was going to be buying us some snacks to have in the afternoons.\r\n\r\nTheir eyes grew so big when they saw the Amazon box that had the snacks in them. Most of them guessed what it was, but they did not know what specific snacks had been sent until I opened the box and showed them the different ones inside. Many of my students started sharing which snack they wanted to try or have first!\r\n\r\nThis is going to be a great ending to our school year, I can't thank you enough. During our recent play and talent show, students were able to project their voices clearly and confidently, allowing the audience to fully engage with their performances. For many students, this meant feeling heard—both literally and figuratively—which boosted their confidence on stage. Beyond these events, the microphones have supported countless other performances, assemblies, and presentations, giving every child the opportunity to shine. This generous contribution has not only enhanced the quality of our productions, but also enriched our students' overall experience in the arts.\r\nFor those who may be more familiar with technology at home, microphones in a school setting go far beyond simple amplification. They help students develop critical communication and presentation skills by allowing them to practice speaking clearly, using expression, and engaging an audience. Students can hear themselves and others more effectively, which improves listening skills, collaboration, and overall performance quality. It also ensures that every voice is valued and heard, especially in larger group settings.\r\nWhat excites students most about the microphones is the sense of professionalism they bring. Students feel like \"real performers\" when using them, which increases their enthusiasm and encourages them to take pride in their work. Even students who are typically hesitant to participate become more eager to take the stage when they know their voice will be heard clearly.\r\nWe have seen particular growth in students who are shy or struggle with confidence. These students have especially warmed to using the microphones, as it gives them a sense of security and presence they might not otherwise feel. With this support, they are more willing to take risks, participate in performances, and express themselves creatively. Overall, this technology has opened doors for many of our students, empowering them to find and share their voices in meaningful ways.","fullyFundedDate":1764722478155,"projectUrl":"project/help-our-students-shine-school-play-su/9936006/","projectTitle":"\"Help Our Students Shine: School Play Supplies for All\"","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Ouzts","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10364099"},{"teacherId":239028,"projectId":9204439,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for funding this project. Last year, my students had destroyed the seat covers that were given to me by another teacher. They were either torn, or written/drawn on or cut with scissors...it was a mess. This year, I wanted my new Kindergarten students to come in and not have to worry about what someone had done to the seat covers.\r\n\r\nWhen we started last week, I told the class about how someone had bought us new seat covers that we will use for our Chromebooks and headphones. We went over how we will not draw on them with pencils, crayons, dry erase markers, glue, etc. When we bought out the boxes, their eyes got so big and they were so excited to see them individually wrapped. Then by the afternoon, we had made name cards and put them on their seats. I also showed them how it was going to look once we start using our Chromebooks and headphones next week before testing. The pockets are deep enough that the computers do not stick out and the headphones can be put into the other pocket and not drag in down too much. \r\n\r\nOur next steps are to dive into using new seat covers and keeping our Chromebooks and headphones safe and not getting torn up!","fullyFundedDate":1746851247204,"projectUrl":"project/covers-for-our-chairs/9204439/","projectTitle":"Covers for Our Chairs!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Bryan","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp239028_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1499904505463","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/239028"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_34734","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":516,"numTeachers":33,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":65,"percentWhite":15,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":13,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"15.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":44.4,"schoolId":34734,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Schoolfield Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Schoolfield Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/virginia/danville-public-schools/schoolfield-elementary-school/34734"}
