The funding of this project allowed each of my 90 students to take home a book to read. Even more impactful, this story is about a boy who is neurodivergent (ASD) and how he sees the world. Many of my neurodivergent students were excited to read a book with a neurodivergent main character, and many of them saw themselves represented.\r\n\r\nYour donation made this a possibility. One meaningful project was a cultural exploration of the muñeca Lele. Students research Indigenous Mexican culture and then created their own cultural dolls. This project allowed students to connect history, identity, and creativity while practicing language skills and cultural comparisons.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the materials, they were genuinely excited and curious. Some students recognized the doll from prior experiences or family traditions, while others were seeing it for the first time. That moment sparked rich conversations about similarities and differences between their own cultures and Mexican culture. Students showed pride in sharing their backgrounds and demonstrated respect for cultural symbols, which made the classroom feel more inclusive and engaging.\r\n\r\nThanks to our donors, students had the tools to deepen their learning.
