When students begin to show signs of frustration, they are sent to the calm corner where they can take a break and use the materials to help them calm down. I also use these materials as incentives for the Transitional Kindergarten classes. For example, I made a deal with two students that they could earn a prize with me at the end of the day if they had a good day and made good choices. By doing this, these students have demonstrated growth in their ability to self-regulate.\r\n\r\nMy students were very excited when they first saw the materials, especially the magnetic tiles. They enjoy using the tiles to be creative and build different things. Some students even like to come into my room during lunch or recess just to play with them.\r\n\r\nI plan on extending the use of these materials and incentives to other classes. I have already reached out to the Kindergarten teachers because there are a few students who are struggling with self-regulation. I plan to make a similar deal with those students, where they can earn a special prize with me at the end of the day if they make good choices throughout their day.","fullyFundedDate":1768521824344,"projectUrl":"project/rooted-regulated/9957098/","projectTitle":"Rooted & Regulated","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Quintero","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9897240"},{"teacherId":9897240,"projectId":9361154,"letterContent":"I want to express my most deepest gratitudes for all your generous donations. My students have numerous different fidgets at their disposal to use when needed. I have also been able to support teachers and staff. For instance, I received a call from a fellow teacher that needed support with an SDC student struggling to transition from lunch to the classroom. I took a bin with different fidgets outside and was able to get the kiddo off the floor and follow me back to class. The students love exploring the fidgets. Thanks to all the donations, I have enough fidgets for students to come enjoy during recess or lunch time. What I am planning next is to support our TK students struggling with self regulation in the classroom. I plan on utilizing all the materials that I received in order to teach kiddos to self regulate by identifying their emotions and using fidgets in the calm corner in the classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1747840690264,"projectUrl":"project/mental-health/9361154/","projectTitle":"Mental Health","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Quintero","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9897240"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_89671","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":453,"numTeachers":24,"percentFrplEligible":84,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":3,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":92,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":0,"gradesServed":"Pre-K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"18.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":100.0,"schoolId":89671,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Schendel Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Schendel Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/delhi-unified-school-district/schendel-elementary-school/89671"}
