They support comprehension strategies (predicting, summarizing, making connections), vocabulary development with tiered word study, and fluency work through modeled reading and partner practice. Each resource also includes supports for text structure and genre awareness, close reading with evidence-based discussion, and quick writing extensions—plus teacher-friendly materials like question stems and differentiation notes to reduce prep time.\r\nReading in our classroom is routine, active, and student-centered. We begin with a brief mini‑lesson that models a strategy, then move into guided small groups where I provide focused feedback on one skill. During independent reading students choose leveled texts from our curated library, practice stamina and apply strategies, and meet with partners for discussion and fluency practice. Short written or oral reflections at the end of sessions help me assess understanding and plan next steps.\r\nThe new texts have sparked interest across multiple student groups. Reluctant readers are spending more time with high‑interest, shorter texts and graphic options; English learners benefit from scaffolded language, visuals, and glossaries; advanced readers find challenge in complex selections with extension prompts; and students working on fluency gain confidence from repetitive‑phrase and dialogue‑rich books. Overall students are choosing books more independently, using strategy language from lessons, and engaging in richer discussions—clear signs the materials are meeting diverse needs.","fullyFundedDate":1764724395242,"projectUrl":"project/behavioral-texts-and-puppets-for-support/9901058/","projectTitle":"Behavioral Texts and Puppets for Supporting Student Needs","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Snook","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9280223"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_35559","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":628,"numTeachers":49,"percentFrplEligible":64,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":4,"percentWhite":44,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":38,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"1 - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"12.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":26.3,"schoolId":35559,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Sarah J Anderson Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Sarah J Anderson Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/washington/vancouver-school-district-37/sarah-j-anderson-elementary-school/35559"}
