The two new rugs have completely transformed our learning space into a comfortable, inviting area where students love to gather, learn, and share ideas.\r\n\r\nWe use the rugs every single day. They've become the heart of our classroom — a place where we start our mornings together for community meetings, dive into read-alouds, and collaborate on group projects. One of my favorite moments was the day the rugs arrived. As soon as we rolled them out, my students cheered and immediately sat down, stretching out and saying things like, \"It's so soft!\" and \"Can we do all our lessons here now?\" Their excitement reminded me how much a warm, welcoming space can mean to young learners.\r\n\r\nRecently, during our partner work, students used the rugs as their collaborative zone. They worked in small groups, reading together and sharing their ideas while seated comfortably in a space that truly encourages teamwork and focus. The rugs have helped foster a stronger sense of community and calm in our classroom.\r\n\r\nNext, we'll continue to use our new rugs as a gathering space for upcoming lessons — from small-group discussions to mindfulness activities and creative projects. The students now see this area as their space — a spot for curiosity, comfort, and connection.\r\n\r\nThank you again for helping us create such a warm and welcoming environment. Parents even said it seemed like a comfortable and fun learning environment. The students are using the pencils, crayons, markers, and colored pencils to complete art projects and worksheets for language arts and history. The historian quotes and maps are placing a foundation of history in our classroom. I read them the inspirational quotes daily to motivate them. Also, the language arts posters are a great asset to our room. The student use them every day when they are writing. We have been using the Clorox wipes to keep our room free from germs. The students use these everyday to ensure our class is clean. We have enough wipes to last us the whole year. I am very grateful for the rolling desk chair, keyboard, and mouse for my teacher space. We also have created a routine of using the hall passes everyday and they have made our room run smoothly as students go to and from places. My students love the many books that have been purchased for them. They have been asking for extra reading time because they are hooked on the new books. Especially the book series's. We can never have enough expo markers, and we have the perfect amount to last us the year. Many students have never experienced how a screw turns in and out, they do not know about latches and locks.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, students are given something to explore that has them thinking differently and trying more than once or twice before asking for help.\r\n\r\nAfter a brief introduction, students are ready to work with the boards on their own and help teach each other about how things work.\r\n\r\nOne surprise, an autistic friend that has a hard time getting ready for the end of the day has come in to use the boards to help calm down before heading to the bus.\r\n\r\nYou have touched lives with your donation and sometimes there are surprising ways that learning happens.\r\n\r\nBlessings to you-\r\n\r\nMrs. Ashley","fullyFundedDate":1739471152376,"projectUrl":"project/unlocking-curiosity-hands-on-stem-expl/9030496/","projectTitle":"\"Unlocking Curiosity: Hands-On STEM Exploration","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Ashley","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp261687_orig.png?crop=716,716,x281,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1725382388605","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/261687"},{"teacherId":261687,"projectId":8734182,"letterContent":"If you could have been here to see the excitement and hear the sounds of joy, you would have known without mere words, the impact of this project! Afterward, the students came to the carpet for a literacy lesson which included a lengthy read-aloud. I'll admit, I was somewhat dreading having to read this book because my students had struggled to sit and attend for even brief amounts of time. However, on this day, my students sat and listened to the entire book and lesson. You could have heard a pin drop while I was reading! I was honestly astounded! Over the next 6-8 weeks attention and focus leveled out some, but still remained better than before we started the exercise program. I have been able to help my students improve their literacy learning and increase their love of literacy. \r\nWe continue to use the equipment daily and still love it every single time.
