My school's curriculum is fantastic, and there are great classic novels included in it. We read and write every single day, often using these great works of literature to guide our learning. However, many students find these novels inaccessible--that's why books like the ones you've donated are so important. \r\n\r\nReading is a skill, and much like the muscles in our bodies, you have to train your reading skills to be a strong reader. Classics can prove to be too difficult if your reading skills aren't strong enough, so these books are great ways to get students engaged with the act of reading, while providing them the opportunity to participate in academic conversations at the appropriate level. \r\n\r\nThough we haven't started the unit which will utilize these books, I can already see the excitement on their faces when they see them on my shelf. It's for that reason that I am so thankful for all the donations made to this project.","fullyFundedDate":1755279766844,"projectUrl":"project/learning-to-love-books/9523241/","projectTitle":"Learning to Love Books","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Phillips","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10105252"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_87641","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1420,"numTeachers":52,"percentFrplEligible":54,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":74,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":17,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"27.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":62.0,"schoolId":87641,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Sandy High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Sandy High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/oregon/oregon-trail-school-district-46/sandy-high-school/87641"}
