Many people use technology every day without really seeing how powerful it can be for learning, but in our classroom these tools have transformed the way students think, create, and problem-solve. With the Cubelets, Sphero Minis, and the much-needed replacement batteries, more students are able to participate at the same time, and our room has become a place where kids truly learn by doing.\r\n\r\nThe excitement these new materials bring is huge. The students love snapping the Cubelets together and immediately seeing what kind of robot they created. The Sphero Minis have been a crowd favorite too—kids cheer when they get to code them through challenges or try to fine-tune their movements. It's been wonderful watching them make connections, ask questions, and take risks because they're genuinely curious.\r\n\r\nWhat has meant the most to me is seeing certain students open up through this project. A few who normally hang back are suddenly the first ones to volunteer ideas or help others troubleshoot. One student who rarely speaks up in class has become our \"Cubelet expert,\" proudly showing classmates how different blocks work. These moments remind me how powerful the right tools can be. Your gift didn't just bring robots into our room—you helped build confidence, spark joy, and create learning experiences that my students will remember for a long time.","fullyFundedDate":1760705078100,"projectUrl":"project/building-bright-minds-with-bots/9799940/","projectTitle":"Building Bright Minds With Bots","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Johnson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1652720_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1611431934533","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/sbarnesa"},{"teacherId":1652720,"projectId":9285196,"letterContent":"Thanks to you, we were able to stock up on essential diorama supplies that allow our students to bring their research projects to life in creative, hands-on ways. From miniature figures and paint to detailed crafting materials, your donations have sparked imagination and helped our students visualize and construct the worlds they've been studying. They can not wait to get to our research unit now!\r\n\r\nA huge shoutout as well for the computer mice — they were put to use immediately! These mice have been a game-changer when it comes to coding, designing in Tinkercad, and navigating Breakout EDU activities. Previously, many students struggled with touchpads, which made it difficult to click precisely or navigate efficiently. The mice have not only improved accuracy and productivity, but also reduced wrist fatigue, making extended design and problem-solving sessions more comfortable and fun.\r\n\r\nThis project has added both depth and joy to our classroom. The colorful filament has brought a whole new level of excitement to our 3D printing projects—and it's making a big impact on how my students learn and think.\r\n\r\nBefore this, we had only primary colors to work with, and students were limited in how much personality and detail they could add to their designs. Now, their creations come out in full color, and it's amazing to see how proud they are. The energy in the room changes every time the printer starts—students crowd around, waiting to see their ideas come to life.\r\n\r\nOne student who used to be hesitant with hands-on tech has completely jumped in. He's now helping others design and troubleshoot their prints—and talking about being an engineer someday. Another group created a set of bumper cars for the school to choose from at our annual Innovators Night- they designed themselves, using the different colors to show features and functions. We've had great opportunities for productive struggle along the way but even failures are part of the success. One of my students saw that the soap dispenser kept leaking on the counter and she designed a soap dish to catch it, it's cute and matches the decor!\r\n\r\nThis filament might seem like a small upgrade, but to these kids, it's the difference between seeing their work as \"just a school project\" and seeing it as something real and meaningful. Thank you for making that possible!","fullyFundedDate":1746533511715,"projectUrl":"project/filament-for-future-inventors-3d-printi/9295952/","projectTitle":"Filament for Future Inventors: 3D Printing in Full Color","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Johnson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1652720_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1611431934533","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/sbarnesa"},{"teacherId":1652720,"projectId":9215120,"letterContent":"Mrs. Keith, Wow—thank you so much for helping bring Cubelets robots into our classroom! Because of your generosity, my students have been exploring, creating, problem-solving, and learning in the most hands-on, engaging way possible.\r\n\r\nBefore this project, most of my kids had never worked with robotics. A lot of them didn't even know what robotics really meant—outside of movies or cartoons. But the second we opened up the Cubelets kits, everything changed. They screamed! You should've seen their faces—so much excitement, so many questions, and they just dove right in.\r\n\r\nCubelets have been such a great way to introduce robotics and engineering in a way that actually makes sense to kids. There's no complicated coding or overwhelming instructions—they just snap blocks together and see what happens. Each block has its own function—some move, some sense light, some act as the brain—and when they connect them, they're literally building working robots. It's like LEGOs but way cooler because the creations come to life.\r\n \r\n\r\n\r\nWhat's been really awesome is how much learning is happening while they play. I've overheard things like, \"What if we swap these two?\" or \"Let's test it in the dark to see if it still works!\" They're thinking critically, collaborating, testing ideas, and learning from what doesn't work—which is honestly such a big win as a teacher.\r\n\r\nAnd I've got to say, one of the best parts has been seeing students who are usually quieter or more reserved totally come out of their shell. One student, who's normally super shy, figured out how to make the robot follow light and started showing everyone else how to do it. Watching her lead a group and explain her thinking with so much confidence was a highlight of my week.\r\n\r\nThe best part? They don't even realize how much they're learning—they're just having fun, creating, and discovering what's possible. That kind of learning sticks with them. They remember it. They feel proud of it. And now they're already asking when we can build more robots or learn how to code them.\r\n\r\nThank you again for making this happen. You didn't just help us get a cool set of tools—you gave my students a chance to feel like real creators and problem-solvers. This experience has truly made an impact, and we're all so grateful for your support!","fullyFundedDate":1743297016118,"projectUrl":"project/curious-creators-building-brains-bots/9215120/","projectTitle":"Curious Creators: Building Brains & Bots with Cubelets!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Johnson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1652720_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1611431934533","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/sbarnesa"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_130602","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":775,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":37,"percentAsian":8,"percentBlack":30,"percentWhite":25,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":24,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":95.0,"schoolId":130602,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Sandbrock Ranch Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Sandbrock Ranch Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/denton-independent-school-district/sandbrock-ranch-elementary-school/130602"}
