Your generosity has brought meaningful, hands-on science experiences to my classroom and beyond our classroom walls. Although it has taken me some time to complete this update, it is because my students and I have been actively busy exploring, planting, and learning in the garden.\r\nThe plant starter sets and live pothos plants have helped students experience life science in a real and memorable way. Students have been planting, watering, observing, and caring for living things while learning about what plants need to grow. One especially meaningful part of this project has been watching students take ownership of their garden responsibilities. They have shown excitement as they check on plant growth, notice new leaves, and participate in our outdoor gardening routines. These experiences have made science concrete for students who learn best through movement, touch, visuals, and repeated hands-on practice.\r\nThe magnetic building rods have supported teamwork, problem-solving, and fine-motor development as students create structures together. Our space-themed materials, including the galaxy projector, space balloons, and rocket launch kit, have helped make our space unit more engaging and accessible. Students were excited to see space concepts come to life through visual displays, building activities, and interactive exploration.\r\nMoving forward, students will continue caring for our garden, documenting changes in plant growth, and using observations to discuss what living things need to survive. We will also build on our space learning by exploring planets, stars, rockets, and basic engineering challenges. Our new charging station and surge-protected power strip have made a meaningful difference in our classroom by providing a safe, organized place for students' Chromebooks and tablets to be charged and ready each day.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the charging station, they were excited to see that their devices now had a designated \"home.\" It has quickly become part of our daily classroom routine. At the end of the day, students practice returning their devices to the correct space, connecting chargers, and checking that their technology is stored safely. In the morning, devices are charged and ready for students to use for communication, reading activities, academic instruction, and functional life-skills practice. This routine has reduced clutter, prevented misplaced devices and cords, and helped students build responsibility and independence.\r\n\r\nBecause of these materials, I am able to spend more time teaching and less time searching for chargers or waiting for devices to power up. Our next step is to continue strengthening student independence by assigning classroom technology helpers and having students take a more active role in checking, organizing, and maintaining the charging station. For my middle school students in an alternate-curriculum classroom, having reliable access to technology removes a barrier and helps them participate more fully in learning every day.\r\n\r\nThank you to Anonymous Supporter and the donor from Florida for investing in our students. It may seem simple, but having these items ready to go has brought a lot of joy and motivation into our daily routine. In our classroom, snacks like Goldfish, gummies, and pretzels are used as rewards to encourage students to practice important skills like communication, following directions, and interacting with others. These small incentives go a long way in helping my students stay engaged and feel successful.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite moments was when a student who usually struggles to communicate was able to independently request a snack using their communication system. It was such a big win for them, and you could see how proud they felt. Moments like that are why these resources matter so much; they help turn learning into something positive and rewarding. The cleaning supplies have also been incredibly helpful in keeping our classroom clean and safe, which is so important for all of our students.\r\n\r\nWe're excited to keep using these materials as we continue working on communication, social skills, and independence.
