Our books see a lot of use over days, weeks, months, and years. The better we protect them, the more students they can reach. This is extremely important for us with a very limited library budget. Because of all of you, I don't have to spend those very few budgeted dollars on book tape, but I can instead mostly focus on getting more books on the shelves. Here are a few specific examples of the impact of your gifts:\r\n\r\n\r\nThe copies of the Dog Man series have been well borrowed and loved. We can never have enough copies, and this is one of the only series that students at both my schools will read almost from the beginning of their school library experience up until they move onto middle school. \r\n\r\n\tWe have had a lot of competition to borrow the Sonic the Hedgehog 5-minute Stories, so this is yet another book I should be requesting another copy of!\r\n\r\n\tThe first two books of the Warrior Graphic Novel series have been much more popular than I imagined they would be, and I have already added the next 3 books in the series to our library wishlist for this new school year.\r\n\r\n\tThe Sonic the Hedgehog paperbacks have assuaged the hurt feelings of lower-grade students who are not quite ready for some of the Sonic graphic novels. They are very popular with our kindergarten through second-grade students, but occasionally get borrowed by upper-grade students who just need more Sonic, of any kind, in their lives.\r\n\r\n\tAfter sharing booktalks with several classrooms about the first book in the Planet Omar series, and doing a read aloud of the book, many students have started borrowing the last books in the series that you helped add to our library collection.\r\n\r\nAfter the Dog Man books your donation helped to fund, the second most popular series in this project is Wings of Fire. The graphic novels cannot stay on the shelf, and I will try to request another copy of the series as soon as I can. \r\n\r\n\r\nFor these specific titles and series, and all the other books you helped us to add, we remain grateful for your contribution to our students and their school libraries. Because of all the time that has passed, I have even more information to provide you about the impact of many of the titles you helped us provide to our then still brand new library:\r\n\r\nThe 6 copies of The Peoples and Culture of Puerto Rico are well-loved and much appreciated, especially because close to, if not over 80 percent of our student population is Latino, with the majority being of Puerto Rican descent. I love seeing students borrow copies, knowing they will add to their knowledge of the island, its history, and culture. I also love to allow students to share their own personal experiences of Puerto Rico when I read aloud the book to classes. \r\n\r\nThe Batman 5-Minute Stories continue to be a hit, especially among our kindergarten and first-grade students, who love a \"big book\" for their grade levels, with many stories to choose from. Many of them may not be reading much yet, but they especially love \"reading\" through the many illustrations. \r\n\r\nI am amazed that The Giving Tree continues to draw students of all grades. They can have the more complicated conversations in high school, college, and beyond, and just enjoy it for right now.\r\n\r\nAll the Disney Descendants books are a major hit and are constantly requested. The students have started to help each other locate them within the library collection. I love library ambassadors! \r\n\r\nAll the books we received from the Pigeon series, by Mo Williem are constantly requested and borrowed. They are also regular read loud requests.\r\n\r\nAs you may have already guessed, fairytales and folktales are popular borrows. You helped us start this still young collection that I am constantly working to grow.\r\n\r\nI must also include the 8 Little Planets board book. This book cannot stay on the shelf, even as I am waiting to check it in from one student, another student has already requested it!
