We are now completing labs in the analog, old-fashion by hand, method and digitally. They are comparing the accuracy of their measurements between the two versions. Data collected is cleaner for calculations. We are now able to perform higher level labs based on AP Physics 1 Free-Response questions. They are finally seeing the connection between what the problem states and how to properly answer the questions with more evidence and reasonings. The academic discourse during lab investigations have been more on topic rather than blaming each other for not conducting the procedure correctly. \r\n\r\nThe Go Motion ensures the data is collected when everyone is ready since the \"collect\" button needs to be pushed. The students are more excited to do experiments with the digital devices since it mimics what they see in the real-world industry workers. Even though it is an AP Physics class, a few students plan to go into a technical field rather than college. Updating the equipment in the classroom is slowly exposing and preparing the next generation of workers and thinkers. Your support has made an incredible impact on our learning environment, providing us with the tools we need to explore, experiment, and discover the wonders of science in a hands-on way.\r\n\r\nThe materials you provided have already sparked excitement and curiosity among my students. Seeing their faces light up as they engage with the new resources is truly inspiring. Your generosity is not only enhancing their education but also fostering a love for learning that will stay with them for years to come.\r\n\r\nWe are incredibly grateful for organizations like Donors Choose and the amazing donors who believe in the power of education. Your kindness and dedication to supporting teachers and students make a meaningful difference, and we appreciate it more than words can express.\r\n\r\nThank you once again for your generosity and commitment to education. Each item has played an important role in supporting their comfort, focus, and engagement.\r\n\r\nThe gel memory foam mattress has had an immediate and powerful impact. We are using it as part of our calm-down and regulation space. One student who often struggled to self-regulate now independently chooses to use the space when feeling overwhelmed. Seeing students recognize their own needs and use appropriate tools has been a meaningful moment for me as an educator.\r\n\r\nThe laminating sheets have allowed us to create durable, reusable learning materials tailored specifically to my students' needs. We've laminated visual schedules, task cards, and choice boards, which students now use daily. When they first saw their personalized materials turned into \"real\" classroom tools, they were excited and proud—several asked if we could laminate more of their work. This has increased independence and reduced frustration.\r\n\r\nThe dry erase markers are being used constantly during lessons, small-group instruction, and practice activities. Students enjoy writing, erasing, and trying again without fear of making mistakes. This simple tool has encouraged participation, especially for students who are hesitant to put answers on paper. Their reaction was immediate enthusiasm—they wanted to start using the boards right away.\r\n\r\nBecause of your support, donors were able to give my students tools that respect their needs and strengths. Our next steps include expanding reusable learning centers, continuing self-regulation instruction, and helping students take more ownership of their learning routines. These resources are not just supplies—they are helping my students feel safe, capable, and excited to learn.\r\n\r\nThank you for giving our donors a window into a classroom where their generosity truly makes a difference.","fullyFundedDate":1692638940090,"projectUrl":"project/learning-life-skills-in-adl/7704659/","projectTitle":"Learning Life Skills in ADL","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Allison Rodriguez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8596615_orig.jpg?crop=1536,1536,x1345,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1692564520720","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8596615"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_14505","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":3177,"numTeachers":241,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":19,"percentWhite":3,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":73,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"13.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":60.5,"schoolId":14505,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Sam Houston High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Sam Houston High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/arlington-independent-school-district/sam-houston-high-school/14505"}
