Because of your kindness, my students now have access to new hot plate and stirrer units that are already making our chemistry lab more engaging, more effective, and more inspiring. Your gift is not just equipment on a lab table. It is an opportunity for students to experience science in a more real and powerful way.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the new materials, they were excited and curious. There was a sense of pride in the room because they could see that people they have never met believed in them and in their ability to learn, grow, and succeed. For many of my students, using this kind of laboratory equipment is a new experience. Being able to work with tools that feel like those used in real scientific settings has made them feel more like true scientists. We are using these resources in chemistry investigations that require careful heating and mixing of solutions, helping students observe chemical changes more clearly and carry out experiments with greater confidence and accuracy.\r\n\r\nWhat has touched me most is seeing how these materials have increased my students' enthusiasm for hands-on learning. They are not only learning chemistry concepts from a textbook, but they are also experiencing the joy of discovery for themselves. As we continue with labs and student investigations, these resources will help them build stronger scientific skills, ask deeper questions, and engage more fully in the learning process. Thank you for believing in my students and for helping create a classroom where curiosity, inquiry, and discovery can truly come alive.","fullyFundedDate":1772070944119,"projectUrl":"project/stirring-up-discovery-first-step-toward/9860125/","projectTitle":"Stirring Up Discovery: First Step Toward a Complete Chemistry Lab","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Jonas Almerino","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9419437_orig.jpg?crop=2036,2036,x0,y88&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1703208675785","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9419437"},{"teacherId":9419437,"projectId":9860102,"letterContent":"Thank you for making \"Hypothesis to Evidence: Power of Realtime Data in Science Class\" a reality for my students. Your generosity has transformed how we investigate science. Instead of estimating results or relying solely on textbook explanations, students now collect precise, real-time data and analyze it like true scientists.\r\n\r\nWe have already used these tools in multiple laboratory investigations and student research projects. During our Enzyme Action: Testing Catalase Activity lab, students measured reaction rates and immediately observed how temperature and substrate concentration affected enzyme function. In Determining the Quantity of Iron in a Vitamin Tablet, they applied quantitative analysis to connect chemistry to real-world health applications. While studying Macromolecules: Experiments with Protein and Energy in Food, students gathered data to calculate energy content and understand biochemical composition. In our Determination of Chlorophyll in Olive Oil investigation, they explored how pigments relate to plant biology and food science. These same tools are now supporting several Science Fair projects, where students are designing experiments, testing hypotheses, and defending their conclusions using authentic evidence.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, students were immediately engaged. They were eager to connect sensors, observe live graphs forming on the screen, and interpret patterns as the data appeared. The moment they realized they could see changes happening in real time was powerful. It shifted their mindset from simply completing a lab to truly investigating a question.\r\n\r\nOur next steps involve expanding student-designed experiments. Students are refining their Science Fair investigations, conducting repeated trials for reliability, and using data analysis to strengthen their claims. We are also integrating more inquiry-driven labs where students design procedures, predict outcomes, and justify conclusions using quantitative evidence.\r\n\r\nYour support has elevated our classroom from performing experiments to conducting authentic scientific inquiry. Thank you for investing in tools that help students move from hypothesis to evidence with confidence and precision.","fullyFundedDate":1768503290158,"projectUrl":"project/hypothesis-to-evidence-power-of-realtim/9860102/","projectTitle":"Hypothesis to Evidence: Power of Realtime Data in Science Class","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Jonas Almerino","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9419437_orig.jpg?crop=2036,2036,x0,y88&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1703208675785","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9419437"},{"teacherId":9419437,"projectId":9860147,"letterContent":"The new Corning Hot Plate/Stirrer Model PC-620D units are already making a meaningful difference in our chemistry lab. My students are using them during ongoing Science and Engineering Fair investigations that require precise heating and consistent mixing of solutions. In one recent lab session, student teams were able to control temperature and stirring speed accurately, which led to more reliable data and stronger conclusions. Students were able to focus on experimental design, observations, and analysis rather than worrying about equipment limitations.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the hot plate and stirrer units, their reaction was excitement mixed with pride. Several students immediately recognized the equipment as what \"real scientists use\" and asked thoughtful questions about safety features and proper technique. Having professional-grade equipment validated their work and reinforced that their experiments matter.\r\n\r\nThrough your support, you have gained a glimpse into a classroom where students learn chemistry through authentic, hands-on investigation. The next steps include completing more advanced solution chemistry labs and refining Science and Engineering Fair projects that involve reaction rates, solubility, and thermal effects. This project represents the second of three steps toward a complete class set, bringing us closer to a lab environment where every group can work safely, independently, and confidently. These resources are helping transform curiosity into careful experimentation and discovery for my students.","fullyFundedDate":1762276273866,"projectUrl":"project/stirring-up-discovery-second-step-towar/9860147/","projectTitle":"Stirring Up Discovery: Second Step Toward a Complete Chemistry Lab","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Jonas Almerino","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9419437_orig.jpg?crop=2036,2036,x0,y88&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1703208675785","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9419437"},{"teacherId":9419437,"projectId":9623647,"letterContent":"My students come to class each day full of curiosity, creativity, and determination. They are eager to learn, share their ideas, and work together to solve problems. With the right tools in place, they are able to turn that energy into meaningful learning, and these new resources have helped make that possible.\r\n\r\nThe pencils and pencil dispenser ensure that every student has access to a simple but essential tool without barriers. Students use them daily to write CERCA responses, take notes during investigations, and reflect on their learning. The dispenser keeps our classroom organized and removes the anxiety of not having materials, allowing students to focus fully on learning. When students first saw the dispenser and supplies, they were excited and relieved to know that everyone would always be prepared and included.\r\n\r\nThe whiteboards have transformed our classroom into a more interactive and collaborative learning space. Students use them to brainstorm hypotheses, model scientific processes, solve problems together, and present their thinking to the class. During one lesson, groups eagerly gathered around their boards to debate ideas and revise explanations in real time, showing a level of engagement and confidence that paper alone rarely achieves.\r\n\r\nThe frames currently display placeholder \"I Am a Scientist\" posters. These serve as a preview of what is coming and help set the tone for our classroom culture. Once we create the actual posters featuring our students, the framed displays will proudly highlight each student's identity as a scientist. This future step will reinforce belonging and remind students daily that their voices, ideas, and discoveries matter in science.\r\n\r\nBy supporting this project, you have gained a glimpse into a classroom where students are learning to see themselves as capable scientists and communicators. The next steps include using these tools for an extended Living Labs project, where students will collect data, collaborate on whiteboards, write evidence-based conclusions, and share their findings with the school community. Together, these resources have created a classroom where students feel supported, valued, and inspired to learn every single day.","fullyFundedDate":1761214810399,"projectUrl":"project/inspiring-learning-tools-to-write-shar/9623647/","projectTitle":"Inspiring Learning: Tools to Write, Share, and Shine","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Jonas Almerino","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9419437_orig.jpg?crop=2036,2036,x0,y88&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1703208675785","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9419437"},{"teacherId":9565783,"projectId":9328003,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous support, our classroom received a touchscreen monitor that has transformed the way my students engage with learning.
