The rockets were culminating project for a unit on flight that students took part in over the extended year in the summer. The egg drop challenge was a kick off, \"hook\" project for this school year with my new 7th grade class. \r\n\r\nPainting the rockets and watching them fly was a first-time experience for all of the students and they were beyond excited. The craftmanship and attention to detail students put into the egg drop containers was truly impressive. The level of teamwork and sportsmanship was amazing for so early in the year. All too often we assume that students in middle school have the necessities at school or that a school has the resources to provide supplies to each student; however, the realities what students do not have access to are harsh.\r\nWe are so incredibly grateful to the donors on this project. Students are thrilled at the prospect of earning fun things like Pokemon cards, fidgets, and toys, for example. \r\n\r\nThe essential school supply selections that were donated have created a school closet to fill needed backpacks and allow students to opportunities to \"shop\" for much needed supplies. When funding is cut and students are underserviced, many times they are not afforded the same equitable access to school materials as other students around the state.
