The first was our On Strike book set. These books gave us a fun engaging way to learn the proper ways to use our school supplies. \r\nNext, we got some phonics skills magnets. The children love these for independent time in their baskets. Each day they have a basket they get off the shelf with activities in it to do while they are at their desk. Each basket has a few of the magnets in it for them to use. The students can write the words on magnadoodles, dry erase boards or use magnetic letters to spell them. This helps them practice spelling words that follow phonics patterns we have been learning. They sometimes write the words in sentences too.\r\nThe last resource was a Phonics Adventures book called Flossy Forest. This was a fun engaging story teaching us the FLOSS Rule for phonics. It helps teach them that if an f, l, s or z follows a short vowel at the end of the word, they have to double it. My students were very excited for their surprise to arrive and even more excited to help unwrap it and see what it looked like. They even helped me roll up and take the old rug out of our room so we could put the new one out right away. They love how soft and cozy our new rug is. It provides them each with a spot to sit and then even have extra room to stretch out their legs when they want to. \r\nThey spend time on the rug daily for lessons, independent reading and love playing on it when we have indoor recess.
