I wanted to give you an exciting update on our progress. While we are a bit behind schedule in the mosaic mural making, I am thrilled to share how much the students are enjoying the process.\r\n\r\nSo far, students have learned how to cut glass and create their own stained glass designs utilizing the foil method and soldering. They absolutely love working with stained glass—so much so that it has captured their imaginations more than I anticipated! This has slightly delayed our transition into mosaic work, but I truly believe it's a wonderful sign of their engagement and creativity. Interestingly they created designs with the cricket, something I had never thought of.\r\n\r\nCurrently, we are diving into mosaics, and the students will soon design and vote on ideas for our community mural. The plan is to complete the mural by the end of the school year. Even more exciting, in March and April, we aim to showcase the mural at a special art event where community members can participate by placing a piece of glass into the design—making this truly a collaborative masterpiece!\r\n\r\nThank you for your patience and understanding as we move forward. Your support is making an incredible difference, and I can't wait to share photos of the finished mural!","fullyFundedDate":1745870295811,"projectUrl":"project/building-community-and-inclusion-by-crea/9050322/","projectTitle":"Building Community and Inclusion by Creating a Mosaic Mural","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Sly","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6653143_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1714852311101","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6653143"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_71798","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1293,"numTeachers":58,"percentFrplEligible":26,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":9,"percentWhite":74,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":5,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"22.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":88.0,"schoolId":71798,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Royal Oak High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Royal Oak High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/michigan/royal-oak-public-school-district/royal-oak-high-school/71798"}
