We are using these resources every single day. Students now have their own paper to organize their thinking, draft ideas, and show their work without worrying about running out. The dry erase pens have been especially impactful during lessons—students use them on whiteboards to solve problems, brainstorm ideas, and explain their thinking in real time. One memorable moment was during a math lesson when students eagerly held up their boards, proud to show their answers and talk through how they got there.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the fresh paper and brand-new dry erase pens, their reaction was pure excitement. They couldn't wait to use them and were amazed that they each had access to tools that made learning feel more interactive and fun. Several students commented on how much easier it was to fix mistakes with dry erase pens and try again, which has helped create a classroom culture where learning from mistakes feels safe and encouraged.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, these materials will continue to support our current lessons as students work through problem-solving activities, small-group discussions, and written reflections. The paper allows them to move from rough ideas to polished work, while the dry erase pens give them the confidence to take risks and share their thinking. Because of you, students are more engaged, more confident, and more willing to participate every day. Your support truly put learning tools directly into their hands, and that impact is felt in every lesson.","fullyFundedDate":1759198415293,"projectUrl":"project/paper-pens-and-possibility-building-a/9772805/","projectTitle":"Paper, Pens, and Possibility: Building a Foundation for Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Shimomi","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7931226"},{"teacherId":3707521,"projectId":9775769,"letterContent":"Art supplies and writing tools have made a big difference in my second grade classroom by helping students express their creativity and build confidence in their work. Your generosity has already made a meaningful difference.\r\n\r\nBecause of your gift, we added wobble chairs and placed tennis balls on the legs of our regular chairs and under tables to reduce noise. We also set up a calming corner with beanbags. These changes give students movement options, quieter seating, and a cozy place to regroup.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the materials they were excited to try them and quickly found seats that helped them focus. The room is calmer during transitions and more students are choosing seating that fits their needs.\r\n\r\nNext steps: we will continue using these seating options during lessons and centers, and we'll encourage students to select the spot that helps them learn best. When the boxes of materials arrived, our students' faces lit up with excitement and joy. These materials have made a huge difference in our daily learning. Students practiced writing skills and math concepts using their kindergarten practice folders, were eager to play math games using our number charts, and motivated to complete tasks to earn prizes.\r\n\r\nWith the book binding tool, we created class books about the animals we learned about. This gave students a fun and meaningful way to develop their literacy and creativity. They were proud to read and share their book with others. Since we've received the supplies, the students have shown so much excitement about learning. The batteries were used to power hand-held electronic devices that allow students to practice their math skills. It is a fun way for students to learn, instead of doing paper and pencil exercises. And because the devices are battery-operated, the students can easily move around the classroom with them and work together in pairs or groups. They are thrilled to be able to practice their newly-learned multiplication facts this way!\r\n\r\nThe basic supplies of paper and a pencil sharpener are essentials in a classroom, and I couldn't teach without them. Although electronics are exciting, students still need to be able to demonstrate their knowledge using paper and pencils. We are constantly in need of sharpened pencils, and our new sharpener allows students to have their writing tool ready to go.\r\n\r\nFinally, the chair pads have been absolutely amazing! The level of noise in the classroom has decreased with the addition of these pads to the bottom of their chair legs. I can see how there is less distraction during transitions, which allows students to be more focused on their work. I'm sure the classrooms below us also greatly appreciate this too! Your donations have made a tangible and profound impact on the learning experience of our students, and I wanted to share some specific ways your support has made a difference.\r\nThanks to your donations of PE equipment and board games, we've been able to replace worn-out equipment and introduce exciting new activities. The new ball toss, tic tac toe, and connect 4 games have brought a renewed sense of energy and enthusiasm to our classes. We also appreciate your donations of classroom supplies, like a pencil sharpener and flexible seating desks. With sharpened pencils, students can complete their work in a timely manner because they are focused on the task and not their dull writing tool. The new desks have allowed students to choose seating options that best suit their individual learning styles and needs. Our class was also able to do an amazing cultural craft with the art materials.
