For many of them, just getting to school every day is an accomplishment. Over the years, I've learned that when students feel seen, supported, and valued, their whole attitude toward learning can change.\r\n\r\nThis year, our school started an effort to recognize and celebrate students for their consistency and growth, not just their test scores. I've seen firsthand how something as simple as acknowledging effort can make a huge difference. Students who used to struggle with attendance are showing up more regularly. They're more engaged in class, more confident, and more willing to take risks academically.\r\n\r\nOne of my students, who had missed weeks of school last year, now hasn't missed a single day this quarter. When I asked what changed, they told me, \"It just feels good to know that people notice when I try.\" That's what this program is about creating a culture where effort is noticed and progress is celebrated.\r\n\r\nWhat's been most powerful is watching the sense of community grow. Students encourage each other, celebrate small wins, and take pride in being part of something positive. It's not just improving attendance—it's improving morale, motivation, and relationships across our campus.\r\n\r\nThis initiative has reminded all of us that when students feel appreciated for showing up and doing their best, they rise to meet higher expectations. The impact goes far beyond grades or rewards—it's about helping them believe in themselves again.","fullyFundedDate":1755568060510,"projectUrl":"project/attend-to-ascend-incentives-for-achieve/9467010/","projectTitle":"Attend to Ascend: Incentives for Achievement","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Hall/Suggs","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8471059_orig.jpg?crop=1284,1284,x0,y149&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1733789829417","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8471059"},{"teacherId":8471059,"projectId":9625348,"letterContent":"The HP Omni Flip Book has quickly become an essential part of my daily teaching practice, helping me plan lessons, model strategies, and create instructional materials with greater efficiency. Its touchscreen and stylus allow me to annotate student work, organize data, and take meaningful notes during observations or meetings, which helps me respond more intentionally to student needs. Because the device is flexible and portable, I can move around the classroom with ease and integrate digital tools more naturally into instruction. Alongside this, the book Teacher Education and Autism has deepened my understanding of how to support students on the autism spectrum with empathy, structure, and research-based strategies. The communication techniques, behavior supports, and case studies presented in the text have helped me refine the way I design lessons, respond to sensory needs, and create more inclusive routines for all learners.\r\n\r\nThese resources have already had a noticeable impact on my students. Lessons are more engaging and organized, thanks to the efficiency the HP Omni Flip Book brings to planning and instructional delivery. I can access visuals, interactive activities, and adapted materials more quickly, allowing me to individualize support in real time. Students with autism, in particular, have benefited from the strategies I have implemented from Teacher Education and Autism—I've seen smoother transitions, improved communication, and increased engagement during lessons. The book's practical examples have helped me create clearer routines, more supportive sensory options, and a more predictable environment, which has led to greater confidence and independence among my learners.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, I hope to continue developing my skills in technology-enhanced and inclusive instruction. The HP Omni Flip Book gives me the opportunity to explore digital assessment tools, create more interactive lessons, and experiment with blended or flipped learning models. At the same time, I plan to keep expanding my understanding of neurodiversity and applying new research to my classroom practices. Together, these resources support my long-term goal of becoming a more adaptive, reflective, and student-centered educator.","fullyFundedDate":1757505771377,"projectUrl":"project/instruction-for-all-bridging-practice-a/9625348/","projectTitle":"Instruction for All: Bridging Practice and Possibility","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Hall/Suggs","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8471059_orig.jpg?crop=1284,1284,x0,y149&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1733789829417","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8471059"},{"teacherId":9613024,"projectId":9620866,"letterContent":"The addition of the laminator and lamination film has transformed how resources are used in our classroom. The materials have already been a huge help! Some of the resources haven't been used yet, as the material they cover in the curriculum will be later in the year. For example, the owl pellets will be used in November when we go over the food chains of the world. It was a wonderful thing to receive all the cleaning products, the microfiber cloths, and the Lysol. Unfortunately, 2 weeks into the school year, we had a high level of COVID-19 and flu-like sickness among staff and students. The supplies came in very handy, and it was the perfect time. \r\n\r\nI know that sometimes teenagers aren't the tidiest of people, but I've been very impressed with them wiping down their desks and cleaning the screens of their Chromebooks with the microfiber cloths. The students have also enjoyed a new 'approach' I used this school year. They each have their own offices (desks) and supplies in a small pouch. They routinely have 'interviews' and assessments to see how they are keeping their offices. I believe they are truly learning how to have pride in their academics and transition services.","fullyFundedDate":1756941213422,"projectUrl":"project/tools-for-transition-supporting-student/9532124/","projectTitle":"Tools for Transition: Supporting Students After School Consolidation","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Domingue","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9613024_orig.jpg?crop=2316,2316,x0,y409&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1745332355459","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9613024"},{"teacherId":8471059,"projectId":9430233,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generosity, our classroom has been transformed into a more inclusive, calming, and supportive space for every student who walks through the door. The new materials have helped us create the kind of environment where students—especially those who are neurodivergent or face daily challenges—feel safe, seen, and empowered to learn in their own unique ways.\r\n\r\nThe executive functioning workbooks have become a staple during our morning routines, helping students build organization and planning skills in a structured, low-stress way. One student, who often struggled with starting his day, now proudly opens his workbook and walks me through his daily goals—something he was once too anxious to even try. The SEL materials have sparked deep, reflective conversations, and we're seeing students make real connections between their emotions and their behavior.\r\n\r\nThe calm corner has become a peaceful retreat for students who need to reset during the day. It's stocked with fidgets, visual aids, and breathing prompts, and students are learning to self-regulate and return to learning with renewed focus. One of the most beautiful moments came when a student asked another if they'd like to take a break together in the calm corner and do breathing exercises—completely unprompted. It's these small, powerful changes that show us the impact of your support.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, my students were amazed. Their eyes lit up as we unpacked everything together. \"This is for us?\" one asked in disbelief. There was so much joy, gratitude, and genuine excitement—it felt like the classroom finally reflected who they are and what they need.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, we're integrating these tools into our social-emotional learning projects, using weekly reflection journals and community-building activities to keep strengthening the skills we've started developing. Our next step is to help students track their own emotional growth and set personal goals using the materials you've helped provide.\r\n\r\nBecause of you, we're building more than just academic knowledge—we're building confidence, self-awareness, and resilience.
