Teachers no longer have to send repeated emails to share information or request updates, saving valuable time that can now be spent focusing on students and their individual needs.\r\n\r\nParents responded that they enjoyed all the positive feedback in relating to teacher emails, phone calls, and in-person conversations. Instead of always hearing negative information, they got emails that gave them wonderful information about their children! A few reported that it was the FIRST phone call or email they had ever received because their child had done something positive or behaved well in class. Attached is a snippet of the email responses! One of the most rewarding outcomes has been the positive response from our parents and guardians. Through consistent, daily feedback, families have been able to see their children's progress firsthand. This increase has been remarkable, particularly for students who have struggled with motivation, attendance, and academic confidence. Something wonderful happened. Academic success is slowly becoming something they want to be recognized for rather than something they feel they need to hide.\r\n\r\nEqually important has been the impact of providing hygiene products and other basic necessities. Knowing they can come to me discreetly for something they need has opened doors to conversations and relationships that might never have developed otherwise. These simple acts of kindness have allowed me to better understand the challenges my students face outside the classroom and identify ways to support them moving forward. For some students, having a trusted adult who notices their needs and responds without judgment is just as important as any academic lesson.\r\n\r\nMany of my students face circumstances that make simply getting to school and staying focused an accomplishment in itself. I spend a lot of time working with IEPs, student data, teacher input, progress monitoring, and other documents. Being able to have multiple things open and visible at the same time has made that process so much easier! Instead of constantly switching back and forth between tabs, I can have everything I need right in front of me. This has been especially helpful when preparing for IEP meetings, annual reviews, transition meetings, and documenting student progress.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite parts of being a special education teacher is watching students realize that they are capable of more than they thought they were. A big part of my job happens behind the scenes—reviewing data, talking with teachers, writing IEPs, planning accommodations, and figuring out what supports will help a student be successful. But seeing those plans actually make a difference for a student is what makes all of that work worth it. Whether it is a student becoming more confident, advocating for what they need, completing something they once struggled with, or simply having a really good day at school, those little moments are the ones I celebrate. They remind me why I do what I do.\r\n\r\nI'm especially excited to continue growing in the areas of transition planning and self-advocacy. We have implemented data chats, individual goal setting, progress monitoring, conversations about behavior and academic choices, and a greater focus on teaching students to understand and advocate for their own IEP accommodations.\r\n\r\nThe results have been remarkable. As part of these combined efforts, our student referrals have decreased by more than 75% so far this year.\r\n\r\nThe color printer has helped us turn information that can be confusing or overwhelming into something students can actually use. Students can receive color-coded schedules that make their day easier to follow. They can have their accommodations clearly identified and in front of them, rather than simply being told what their IEP says. This has opened the door for conversations about what accommodations mean, when to use them, and how students can appropriately advocate for the support they need.\r\n\r\nColor printouts have also made our data chats and goal-setting activities more meaningful. Students can SEE their progress, identify areas that need improvement, and recognize their successes. For students who often struggle with organization, focus, reading comprehension, or executive functioning, that visual clarity matters.\r\n\r\nThe printer did not create these changes by itself—but it gave us a powerful tool to support the work we are doing every day. It has helped us make expectations clearer, progress more visible, accommodations more understandable, and goals more personal.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, our students are beginning to see themselves differently. Instead of simply being recipients of ESE services, they are learning to understand their needs, monitor their progress, advocate for themselves, and take greater ownership of their success.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping us put the right tools into our students' hands.
