My students were so excited to see all of the art supplies. They already started coming up with ideas on how to use them. For many of them, it motivated them to get their writing done. My students who needed more support were also so engaged.\r\n\r\nMy students wrote an animal report of an animal of their choice. They then used the supplies to create a diorama of their animals habitat. Finally they made a clay animal to place in the habitat. It was so exciting to see how they could use their engineering skills to create something with little guidance from me. I saw felt turned into treetops, aluminum foil into rivers, pipe cleaners into trunks, and construction paper into ponds. \r\n\r\nThank you once again. I am excited to continue incorporating STEAM into future classes! The different continents really excited them. They kept looking at them, trying t find various countries on them. My students table groups are labeled by continents. They tried to find their table group name on the rug. \r\n\r\nOne of the biggest changes has been during a lot of independent work time. They love doing their work on the carpet and are often asking if they can work at the carpet. Even months later, they try point out. \"That's Asia. India? Is that where this student went? Where is___?\"\r\n\r\nIt has been wonderful to have a rug that not only adds color and excites the kids, but can also be used as a teaching tool.
