Your generosity is helping us create a classroom where young learners can explore, learn, and feel successful every day.\r\n\r\nThe sensory table tools—including scoopers, bowls, and measuring spoons—will give our students hands-on opportunities to explore sensory materials while developing important fine-motor skills, coordination, early math concepts, and language. Our TK students love learning through play, and these tools will help make sensory experiences more purposeful, engaging, and accessible.\r\n\r\nI originally had wanted to purchase resting towels and bags, but unfortunately the supplier that I had picked stopped making them at the price that I needed to fulfill this project. Instead I decided to choose different materials that are much needed in our classroom and have already been used tons!\r\n\r\nThe scented chap sticks will be used as part of our classroom reward system. In TK, small celebrations can make a big difference! Students will have opportunities to earn rewards for demonstrating positive behaviors such as kindness, following classroom expectations, using self-control, helping others, and showing perseverance. Having a special, age-appropriate reward gives students something exciting to work toward while reinforcing positive choices.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, these materials will help us build a positive classroom community where students feel encouraged and proud of their accomplishments. The magnetic tiles are used for open-ended building, where students design cars, ramps, and structures while practicing problem-solving, collaboration, and creativity.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, they were beyond excited. They immediately wanted to explore how the stamps worked and began naming letters and sounds as they pressed them into the Play-Doh. During building time, students eagerly worked together to create vehicles and structures, sharing ideas and experimenting with different designs.\r\n\r\nNext, students will continue using these materials to deepen their learning by connecting letter-building activities to phonics lessons and expanding STEM challenges. They will plan, test, and improve their magnetic tile designs, while reflecting on what works and why. After a few minutes, they returned to the activity focused and confident, ready to learn.\r\n\r\nThe students were excited and curious when they first saw the new materials. They immediately wanted to explore how each item worked and asked thoughtful questions about when and how to use them. Many students expressed how the tools made them feel calm and safe, which helped set a positive tone for the classroom.\r\n\r\nThe next steps involve teaching students to identify their emotions more independently and choose appropriate strategies from the calming corner. We are connecting these tools to social-emotional learning lessons, helping students reflect on how self-regulation supports their academic growth.
