Our kids appreciate having a calming space in our room.\r\n\r\nWe set up the rug and pillows along the back wall of our room and the students love to lay on it with a blanket to rest for a while or sit and play with toys during free time. It does not take up a lot of space, but is big enough for just a couple kids to enjoy some alone or small group time.\r\n\r\nWe also put the tennis balls on all the desks and chairs which really helps reduce noise and distractions. We were able to share the supplies between three autistic support classrooms. Each class received pencils, scissors, colored stock paper, dice, erasables, a pointer, etc. so that all of our students can have things ready to use for learning.\r\n\r\nThey like to use roll the dice and then use the erasable number line to do math - a good mix of learning and fun.
