These books are wonderful tools to inspire language for all of my students, from kindergartners who are just beginning to learn English, all the way to fifth graders who are approaching proficiency in English! \r\n\r\nIn one session, I began by having the students look at the books and choose one that interested them. The students quickly noticed these books were different, exclaiming, \"But where are the words?\" That's when the magic happened! I was able to reply, \"You get to decide what the story says!\" \r\n\r\nOn each page, I get to ask, \"What is happening here? What do you notice? Can you use the word _____ to describe what you see?\" Allowing for students to express themselves and the stories with their own words, while also teaching them new vocabulary to add in, is authentic and engaging in a very special way. These books are making my classroom a better place for learning and reading!
