Instead of just reading numbers out of a textbook, my students are now collecting real data in real time.\r\n\r\nOne of the most memorable moments came the very first day we brought out the probes. As soon as students saw the sensors responding to changes in the water samples they collected, there were audible \"wows\" and excited shouts across the classroom. For many of them, this was the first time they felt like true scientists, not just students doing an assignment.\r\n\r\nWe recently completed a project testing water quality at the Wehr Nature Center. Using the probes, students measured the pH and dissolved oxygen levels of different sites around the pond and stream. The equipment not only made the science more accessible to all students, but it also gave them confidence in their work—they could see the results instantly and knew their findings were accurate. One student told me, \"This makes science feel real, like what people actually do.\"\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we plan to expand this work by comparing water quality data across different locations and seasons. Students are excited to build a dataset that will allow them to track changes over time and connect their findings to larger environmental issues like pollution, habitat health, and climate change.\r\n\r\nYour support has given my students not just tools, but opportunities to think critically, ask deeper questions, and experience science in a hands-on, meaningful way. Thank you for investing in their learning and making such an incredible impact.","fullyFundedDate":1747072527523,"projectUrl":"project/field-testing-supplies/9321110/","projectTitle":"Field Testing Supplies","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Tillman","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10015530"},{"teacherId":9470768,"projectId":9131957,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous contributions to The Black Excellence project. Your support has made an incredible difference in the lives of our Black Student Union (BSU) members. With your donations, we were able to enhance our programming with vibrant materials, culturally reflective resources, and engaging supplies that helped us bring our vision to life. One highlight was our \"Black Excellence Conference,\" where students led workshops, welcomed speakers, and hosted activities designed to inspire pride, leadership, and community. The moment our students saw the transformed space, with banners, creative materials, and customized conference swag, they lit up with pride, knowing this event was built for and by them.\r\n\r\nThe impact continues to grow. Students have been using the materials to plan future projects such as our \"Calligraphy & Chill\" art session and Juneteenth celebration, using tools that you helped us secure. One powerful moment came when a senior said, \"This feels like something I'll always remember, it shows us that our voices matter.\" That sense of empowerment and ownership has encouraged our students to dream even bigger. Up next, students are planning a leadership hand-off event to train the next generation of BSU leaders. Thanks to you, they have the confidence and resources to keep building meaningful, empowering experiences. Your donation didn't just support a project, it helped strengthen a community. Thank you again for believing in our students.","fullyFundedDate":1748368045147,"projectUrl":"project/black-excellence-gala/9131957/","projectTitle":"Black Excellence Gala","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Murchison","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9470768_orig.jpg?crop=480,480,x0,y136&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1741287072046","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9470768"},{"teacherId":9470991,"projectId":8887566,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your kind and generous donations to providing much needed period products to the students at Reagan High School.
