The excitement was instant! As soon as I introduced the materials, the room filled with curiosity and smiles. Students couldn't wait to get their hands on the ten frames, explore the dice, and try out the bowling set. For many, this was the first time they could see and touch math in such an interactive way. Their reactions were priceless—they felt like real mathematicians, and the confidence boost was immediate.\r\n\r\nOne of our favorite moments so far was using the wooden ten frame sets to independently represent numbers 0-10. They were so engaged—moving counters and taking pride in their work and abilities. We have incorporated the quiet dice not only in math games, but also in literacy games for roll and write activities! Furthermore during center time students are using the bowling set to create their own math games involving number recognition and subtraction. It was amazing to see them collaborate, problem-solve, and truly understand the numbers they were working with. These tools have made abstract concepts come alive and helped build a strong foundation in number sense. \r\n\r\nRight now, we're continuing to explore number relationships and developing strategies for problem-solving. The next steps include using these materials during small group math rotations and independent exploration time. We're also incorporating some inspiring read-alouds that support both academic and character growth—helping students see that learning takes perseverance, courage, and a growth mindset. With your support, we're building a classroom full of curious thinkers, brave problem solvers, and confident learners.\r\n\r\nThank you again for helping create these meaningful learning experiences. Your generosity is helping students connect with math in a way that's fun, engaging, and deeply impactful.","fullyFundedDate":1746785471624,"projectUrl":"project/adding-fun-subtracting-fear/9285969/","projectTitle":"Adding Fun, Subtracting Fear","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Steele","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8523177_orig.png?crop=957,957,x24,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1659403021935","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-steele-kindergarten"},{"teacherId":6521647,"projectId":9475236,"letterContent":"The completion of this project has greatly improved the climate of the library.
