They were excited to compare characters, discuss themes, make predictions, and even debate story decisions—both in Spanish and in English. Their reading pace increased, their comprehension deepened, and their confidence is growing. What used to be a challenge for many became something they looked forward to.\r\nAnd the impact didn't stop there.\r\nBecause they were reading more—and enjoying it more—our classes became more dynamic, more thoughtful, and more enjoyable for all of us. I couldn't believe we reached our goal before second semester and were able to get instruments to my new group of students starting after winter break! It has also allowed us to invite our Life Skills students to join our class and use the ukuleles as well!\r\n\r\nThe students are progressing so quickly in their musical abilities and are having a lot of fun along the way. Many of them are coming to class with new songs they are eager to test out on their instruments. For a lot of them, my class is the only place they get exposure to music or playing an instrument because they do not have one at home. So they are always excited to come to class and learn something new -- only now possible because of you all!
