Because of your generosity, our students in 4th-8th grade now have a space to come together each week to play, connect, and grow!\r\n\r\nWith your help, we were able to purchase a variety of board, card, and video games that have transformed our library into a vibrant hub of laughter, teamwork, and learning! From classic board games like Connect 4 and Guess Who to fast-paced video games like Mario Kart, our students now have opportunities to collaborate, problem-solve, and just have fun in a safe, inclusive environment.\r\n\r\nThrough play, our students are developing important social-emotional and life skills that reach far beyond the walls of our club. They are learning to communicate, to lead, to handle wins and losses gracefully, and to support one another. The friendships forming here are real and lasting, and it's all thanks to the tools you helped provide.\r\n\r\nIt's hard to capture just how meaningful this has been for our students. Our 4th graders have been especially thankful for gaming club, as they have fewer after-school activities than students in the upper grade levels. We recently completed a project where students worked together to bake cookies. Each student took on a specific role, from measuring ingredients to operating the mixer, fostering teamwork and hands-on learning. They practiced essential math skills, such as fractions and conversions, while measuring ingredients, and developed time management by adhering to the baking schedule. The process not only taught them how to bake but also instilled a sense of responsibility and pride in their work, knowing they were contributing to the school community.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the new materials, their excitement was palpable. They were thrilled to unpack the shiny mixers, colorful bowls, and various baking tools, eagerly discussing all the recipes they could try. Many expressed amazement at the equipment and were motivated to learn how to use them. The joy and curiosity in their reactions set a positive tone for the project, making it clear that these resources would ignite a passion for learning and creativity in the kitchen.","fullyFundedDate":1726586114978,"projectUrl":"project/sweet-success-school-baking-skills-proj/8783858/","projectTitle":"Sweet Success: School Baking Skills Project","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Klein","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9750303_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1726434246845","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9750303"},{"teacherId":9755351,"projectId":8796241,"letterContent":"My students and I cannot thank you enough for your generosity and support of our classroom project. The supplies you provided—carts, coffee maker, coffee, and more—have truly brought our Comet Cafe to life! This initiative has become a central part of our classroom, where students engage in meaningful, hands-on learning that builds both their social and academic skills.\r\n\r\nThrough running the cafe, my students have been practicing critical life skills like communication, teamwork, organization, and handling money. It has been so rewarding to watch their confidence grow as they take on different responsibilities and interact with staff and visitors who come to the cafe. This experience is helping them become more independent and preparing them for life outside the classroom.\r\n\r\nIn addition to the cafe, the supplies have allowed us to explore creative projects in the kitchen. So far, we've made salt dough ornaments, cupcakes, and cookies, and the students have loved every minute of it. These activities not only help build practical cooking skills but also encourage problem-solving, creativity, and perseverance. We can't wait to make even more fun and delicious items throughout the rest of the school year.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has made a lasting impact on my students' learning and growth, and we are truly grateful for your support.
